    3. Hi Patricia, If he was an officer he will be listed in Lionel Challis' remarkable work PeninsularRoll Call. http://www.napoleon-series.org/research/biographies/GreatBritain/Challis/c_C hallisIntro.html There is a large amount of information on Corunna and on the Peninsular War on the internet that you can find by searching on Google. It is remarkably well documented. My ancestor, Conyngham Ogilvie, also fought at Corunna. Her words have remained in my head to this day: she died in 1947. She said: A member of our family carried Sir John Moore from the battlefield at Corunna. Of course I knew nothing of history back then, but the words have remained embedded in my memory. Any clues about where to next? And if that wasn't enough, I was also told: Members of our family were followers of William Wallace. How's that as a way to induct a child into the mysteries of family history? 3. Your mails immediately brought to mind the poem by Charles Wolfe: 'The Burial of Sir John Moore at Corunna' (That ages me - it's the sort of poetry we read when I was at school!) It begins: "Not a drum was heard, not a funeral note, As his corse to the rampart we carried. Not a soldier discharged his farewell shot O'er the grave where our Hero we buried. **** It ends: Slowly and sadly we laid him down, >From the field of his fame fresh and gory; We carved not a line, and we raised not a stone - But we left him alone with his glory." If you can't find it, let me know, and I'll send you the rest. It's a moving poem.
