Hi Alan: Will have a look as I will be interested to see if any of the three WWI files on the 46th Reinforcements in Archives (AAYS series 8638, was Army AD1) contain lists of personnel. If they were attested the soldiers should have military personnel files at Archives, probably with high numbers in the 60 to 90 thousands) e.g. 72399. According to the article on Conscription in the Oxford Companion to NZ Military History, men between 20 & 46 were divided into 2 divisions; First: unmarried or recently married and Second the rest. Initially only First Division were balloted, but in October 1917 it was extended to married men without children. But when the war ended most of the 55,000 married men called up were entering camp or training. The Second Division League agitated in 1917 for better allowances for married men, widows pensions etc. Yours, John Wilson > Hi Folks, > > Wondered if any list member can point in the right direction to find a > list of the men who were in the 46th Reinforcements for WW1. > They went into camp but never left for overseas as the war finished. > They are not listed on the Auckland War Museum site as they did not serve > overseas. > > Thank you > Allan >
