Yes I checked a few of my own and I noticed that they were born in the Chathams. One birth I am sure occurred in New Plymouth but I don't have the actual registration to compare. It's been noticed in the NZ History and genealogy group in Facebook that I frequent that almost from the day Ancestry added the information on site... totally untrustworthy information including name transcriptions which of course gives you a brick wall if you don't think outside the square to try ways it might be entered incorrectly. Even in my own research I've noticed it, that's why unless you can sight actual documentation and not 'transcriptions', the ancestry information should not be trusted - and even in some of those instances actual documentation can still be wrong. Hopefully Ancestry are on to this, however if they were, I'd have thought they'd have pulled the information until it was amended.
