Hi Robyn In my message earlier today I wondered if Elizabeth Florence GARRETT may have married by the time of the 1963 electoral rolls, and that her mother Janet Duff GARRETT some time between 1963 and 1969, possibly to a RUTHVEN. I went down to our genealogy rooms this morning, and found that both hunches were right :-) Elizabeth married in 1959, her mother in 1967. I'll post the details in a private message. I think that Janet RUTHVEN's death notice is likely to be the best source of information. She died on Wednesday 24 April 1991. I would expect her death notice to be in Wellington and Christchurch - and possibly Nelson - papers. I'll try to remember to look in Christchurch papers sometime soon. Other folk may offer to look in those other papers. As for the origins of William Joseph GARRETT, hopefully someone will look for an obituary in a Nelson paper after his death on 4 April 1957.
