    3. In my database I have Susan MEMBERY married to Robert Craig GARDINER 1877 at Picton. They had six children one of whom was William John Membery GARDINER who married Ellen (Nellie) MCDOWELL who was sister to my grandmother Martha MCDOWELL who married Percy DILLON. Nellie and Martha's parents were John Charles MCDOWELL & Jane WARNER. My database has it that Susan MEMBERY was the daughter of William MEMBERY & Elizabeth PHILLIPS . Here's an old 2000 NZ List email that I copied to my notes section re Susan MEMBERY (it's all I have re MEMBERY): From: "Philip Creed" Subject: [NZ Mailing List ] Gardiner / Membery Date: Wed, 4 Oct 2000 In response to Darryl Taylor's request : Susan MEMBERY who married Robert GARDINER was probably a daughter of William and Elizabeth MEMBERY, whose descendants and ancestry have been well documented by John CATLEY in his book : The MEMBERY family : from Somerset to Wellington, New Zealand / compiled [prepared] by John CATLEY. Publisher : Wellington [N.Z.] J. Catley, 1997. Description : Book 24, 50p. [5] p. of plates : ill., facsim., geneal. tables, ports. ; 30 cm. Dewey : 929.2 21 ISBN : 0473039583 (pbk.) : $30.00 Item Type: Book Thesaurus: National Library of New Zealand Catalogue Scope Note: "William and Elizabeth MEMBERY - a good workman of any part of husbandry, to plough, sow, reap, or mow, and anything in that way, his wife is a very industrious woman not generally equalled." I have seen the book in our local genealogical society library, however it may not be available in public libraries as it had a limited distribution. Have found the name spelt MEMBRAY and MEMBERELY but mostly MEMBERY. William and Elizabeth MEMBERY came from England with eigth to ten children, two I am not sure if they died in England. They had four more children in NZ. Have looked in all the papers for the Wellington area where the 11th child was born, but can't find them any where in shipping records. Any ideas where I could find when they arrived. Any help gratefully received.
