Panmure. **For parking details, please see the website at* www.genealogy.org.nz *14FRC006: How to Use the FamilySearch Catalog, Order Films, and Access Films Held at the FRC $15.00** Saturday 17th May, 10.00am-12.00 noon. Classroom Workshop Presenter ~ Carolyn Williams* FamilySearch <www.familysearch.org > should be the first place you look for the parish records of most countries. This workshop will show you how to use the FamilySearch Catalog, how to order a film, how to read the film in the FRC or by using the Remote Film Reader at home, wherever you live. You will also learn how to see what films are held at the FRC using the NZSG website. *14FRC007: Australian Research: An Introduction $20.00 **Saturday 24th May, 10.00am-1.30pm Computer Workshop Presenter ~ Bruce Tudor* This workshop focuses on records for Births, Deaths and Marriages from all Australian States; looking at what information they contain and where to find copies. We will look at wills and probate records and cemetery records. Most of these records are on-line but many are still not. We will also look at more current records available on-line. If you are new to Australian research or you want to go back to the basics, this course is for you. *14FRC008: Introduction to Scottish Research $20.00 **Saturday 7th June, 10.00am-1.30pm Classroom Workshop Presenter ~ Bobbie Amyes* Have you found that your ancestors came from Scotland? This workshop is an introduction to the records available for research in Scotland. Records such as Civil Registration, Census, Parish Registers, Wills and Settlements. There will be maps available for you to locate where your family lived. *14FRC009: Introduction to Irish Research $15.00 **Saturday 14th June, 10.00am-12.00 noon Classroom Workshop Presenter ~ Diane Downey* Have you discovered your ancestors were Irish and you don’t know where to look to learn more about them? This workshop introduces you to Ireland, learn about townlands, parishes, baronies, also the types of records you can look at, and what the NZSG holds as well as what is available online. *14FRC010: Australian Records: An In-depth Look $20.00 **Saturday 21st June, 10.00am-1.30pm Computer Workshop Presenter ~ Bruce Tudor* In this second Australian workshop we will attempt to add some of the history about your ancestors. We will look at records such as convict records, Census and Muster records if you had a convict. We will also delve into the many State Record Offices and State Libraries and search for Military Records, Electoral Records and much more. We will also use some of the vast collection available on CD ROM. Bring your lunch. After the workshop Bruce will be available for one-to-one help in the Library. This course is for the new researcher as well as the more experienced. If you have some basic details about your family and want to find lots more, this course is for you. *14FRC011: Were Your Ancestors From Continental Europe? $20.00 **Saturday 28th June, 10.00am-1.30pm Computer Workshop Presenter ~ Graham Clark* This workshop will introduce you to the changing boundaries in Continental Europe during the 19th century and the formation of the German Empire. It will illustrate some of the important records used in your research. The workshop is also a practical hands-on session using Ancestry and other Internet sites to further your research. Bring with you any information you already have on your European family. New members are encouraged to take part and we also welcome long-time members who want to improve their research skills or learn more about a particular topic. Non-members are invited to attend the workshops and all first time visitors to the FRC will be given an introductory tour of the NZSG library. The presenters are all experienced both in lecturing and in genealogical research. We welcome all, wherever you may live. *Registration is essential.* You may register on-line via the NZSG website < http://www.genealogy.org.nz> or by post using the Registration Form, Registration Form.pdf or in person at the FRC. *Please register before the Wednesday prior to the date of the workshop*. (If you register late there may not be a place for you, as computer workshops in particular are limited.) You are invited to bring your laptop computer to Computer Workshops, you may connect to the Internet via NZSG’s WiFi. The Registration Form may be photocopied, it is also available from the NZSG website. A separate registration is required for each workshop you wish to attend. If it is necessary to cancel the workshop you will be informed and a new date will be arranged. Make sure you include your telephone number and email address on the Registration Form as you will be contacted with a reminder of your booking during the week prior to the workshop. Please arrive in good time for each session as the workshop will start promptly.
