Thank you to Allan, Gail and Penne for your prompt responses... Parents are likely to be Edward HUBBARD and Margaret Vivian KEIGHRAN and thanks to Gail I can possibly rule out this branch of HUBBARD being connected to mine although Waltham Abbey is only a hop, step and a jump, well maybe a couple of jumps from Saffron Walden where my HUBBARD ancestors are from... Your answers have given me names and helped me to work out birthdates for 4 generations back from Allan... He may have been born in Dunedin. He may have had four siblings, names unknown. If anyone is researching this family I would like to know who his parents and/or his grandparents were... I do not need anything else on this couple... Thank you. Hilton Doidge Waikato Researching HUBBARD in New Zealand, also Suffolk and Essex in England.
Sadly, Hilton, I 100% disagree with you as to ruling out the connection. I say that, because I suggest you have little idea as to the amount of travel that our "olds" did in those days. You can truthfully only categorically rule such out such a connection if you have tested your oldest living HUBBARD connection (whether you or a cousin or whoever is still living on the HUBBARD side of your family) with one of their family via an autosomal DNA test. In other words, once you begin to use such a tool for both verification and confirmation, you will be astounded as just how much travel your ancestors did as well as the genealogical windows/doors that will open up to you, as a result.
