    3. Hi folks, For many years I have been looking for the death of my Gt.grandmother Matilda LLOYD nee DAVIDSON. 1. Matilda christened 1857 Belfast, Ireland. 2. Arrived Auckland NZ, 1872 on the Celestial Queen 3. Married James LLOYD 1879, Auckland, her occupation servant. James occupation, mariner. 4. Lived in Auckland until about 1888. Had four children between 1880 and 1885. 2 died 1882. 5. Family moved to Waiotemarama, Hokianga about 1887/88. Had another child 1891 which died 1892. 6. My grandmother, second living daughter was in Std IV in 1898 at Waiotemarama School 7. Matilda was on the Bay of Island electoral roll in 1900 8. In 1907 James wrote a will in which every thing was left to the eldest daughter, Rachel. (I was told by an elderly lady that knew Gt. aunt Rachel, that her mother had told them that “Jimmy was a grumpy little man and Matilda left him”.)I think she must have taken my grandmother Annie Elizabeth, with her. My grandmother married my grandfather, Charles Clifford in Kihikihi in 1910. How and where did they meet I wonder. Matilda had a brother, Thomas Kilpatrick Davidson who married Elizabeth Grimshaw in 1875 NZ, christened as just Thomas, who was living at Mangapiko, Waipa and then Te Awamutu between 1875 and 1906. He was then in the Mt Roskill, Onehunga and Manurewa area of Auckland between 1911 and 1927. Did she go to her brothers? Is that how my grandparents met? I have not found a death for a Matilda LLOYD that fits but I found a death for a Matilda Davidson that could be her. A Matilda DAVIDSON died Aug 1936 at Auckland Infirmary, Epsom, from 16 Clarence St., Ponsonby. She is recorded as a 80y old spinster. Said she was from Portadown Ireland. Cause of death was senility and cerebral haemorage. The informant was the Undertaker. I made contact with the Undertakers firm but unfortunately they reply was “very poor record keeping that year, have no record of the burial”. Auckland Hospital Board paid for her plot. My question is, “where do I go now?” and if any of these names mean anything to you I would love to hear from you. Thanks for reading this. Annette
