    3. Hi Charmaine: I will get the WWI file for James McLean Wilson No 78809 digitised by Archives, I presume that is the one you cannot access! With a high NZEF number, it is possible he did not go overseas in the NZEF (too old?). Is this the Reserves List entry for him, shown as a farmhand? The 1916 Act required male residents aged 17 to 60 to register, but the usual age for conscription was 20 to 45, initially at least not married and supporting children, and subject to a medical: Surname WILSON Given Name James McLean Category Nominal Rolls Vol 4 Regimental Number 78809 Rank Private Body or Draft Unit or Regiment Marital Status Last NZ Address Next of Kin Title C H Next of Kin Surname WILSON Next of Kin Relationship Father Next of Kin Address 32 Mill Street St Kilda Dunedin Roll 86 Page 7 Occupation Farm Hand Recruiting District Classification Comment Last Employer NZSG Index New Zealand World War 1 Service Personnel and Reservists Index Version 3 Data Sourced From NZ WWI Service Personnel & Reservists Index v3.0 Yours, John Wilson ----- Original Message ----- From: "Charmaine Andresen" <wasu66nz@yahoo.co.nz> To: "New Zealand Mail list" <new-zealand-l@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2014 11:27 AM Subject: [nz] James McLean/McTurk WILSON Can anyone please advise my cousins (Gt Granddaughters of the above) and myself on this search the very elusive man. We have his marriage and children's details and know the marriage broke up. After that James simply disappears; no divorce NZ, no death NZ, nothing on Archway that pertains to him etc. There are several other James' we have found but nothing that gives us positive 'claim' to him! An elderly aunt gave the story as he was simply 'over the seas'. We cant access Army records for him,(if the one named there is him and possibly absconded while overseas). ANY help/direction is much appreciated! James was bought up by his Grandmother & Stepfather and adopted the stepfathers surname. James was a tailor. They are all the children of Flora Jamison (McLean) Wilson. (Dunedin) Catherine McLean married Thomas Wright in 1868. I am particularly interested in a possible first child of Catherine's, James McLean Wilson born in Auchinleck, Scotland March 1857.
