You're partly right, I would have to concur that the year and place is correct but not the date you mentioned... DIA Historical is wrong in their assumed death date of 20/11/1914... That was the date the 'skeletal' remains were found 'washed ashore' and as the word skeletal was used in the Coroner's report, one can only deduce that the death occurred sometime previous and as stated... In Auckland... The fact that the skull was found some distance from the heavy-chain-draped-clothed-remains may or may not indicate foul play. The death occurred between 4/02/1914 and 20/11/1914... The Coroners final say was "Found Drowned" I have only indicated a year in my Gen. Program as I do not know the exact date of death... I can't ascertain that... No one can... So, sorry, all I can say is that our great-grandfather died alone, who knows, on a day in February 1914???... Remains discovered by Duncan, recognised by the apparel the remains were clothed in and personal items... I will send you a copy of the original Coroner's Report and Police Report and the transcript of both, if you want... Hilt
