    3. I am currently reading a biography of Queen Victoria's son, Prince Albert who became King Edward. The book is "Bertie, A Life of Edward VII" by Jane Ridley. He was born in 1841, and gained a reputation of womanising. That of course was pre-pill, and there were consequences.... The book mentions one woman & her family being sent to New Zealand, with money & possibly land, presumably to avoid scandal. The family name was GREEN, and it would have been before 1861. Mr GREEN returned to England demanding further financial assistance about that time, leaving his wife in NZ.  The book seems very well researched, with the author having access to many archives that would not normally be available to family historians. Fascinating! I'm interested to know if anyone has GREEN family with a family legend they are trying to substantiate, or have already sorted out? It's possible of course there was a name change involved. Cheers, jo    ____________ Jo Broad
