    3. HI all ! I had a feeling that Ancestry would cut back on the births so I tried to print out everything from 1914 - 1950 for KENNEDYs but my printer ran out of ink at the end of 1930 and the local shop didn't stock ink for my old printer !!!! I don't suppose anyone has got the 1930s and 1940s by any chance? Or is it ever possible to buy a set of the fiche ??? Cheers, Liz Stanley

    3. Liz, You should download and install one of the free pdf printers such as primo pdf as it allows you to print to it just like a normal printer but it creates a pdf for you that you can save on your pc. Saves a lot of printer ink if you don't need to print the docs right away and is handy if you do happen to run out of ink. http://www.primopdf.com/ Cheers Dave H On Jul 2, 2014 10:45 PM, "STANLEY ELIZABETH" <estanley@otenet.gr> wrote: > HI all ! > I had a feeling that Ancestry would cut back on the births so I tried to > print out everything from 1914 - 1950 for KENNEDYs but my printer ran out > of ink at the end of 1930 and the local shop didn't stock ink for my old > printer !!!! 3. Hi All: The Registrar-Generals "historic" website will have (on 10 July) online entries for all births up to 10 July 1914, as the website is updated daily according to the website FAQ section. Likewise all deaths up to 10 July 1964 and marriages up to 10 July 1934 (with limits of births 100y but 50y for stillbirths; 80y for marriages; and 50y for deaths or born over 80y ago). But while an attempt to search for later marriges will get a warning that the range is invalid, it is possible to search for births up to 10 July 1964, with the later entries being stillbirths only. Likewise deaths can be searched up to the present but later entries are incomplete ie deaths of those born over 80 years ago only. You can order "non-historic" or more recent BDMs though, although the ordering procedure is more involved (eg producing a photo ID like a driving licence at the Wellington counter). I think it is possible to put an embargo on your own records, but do not think that this would happen often. The BDM records include some events outside New Zealand, eg wardeaths in WWI & WWII, although these have been entered on the "historic" website as all occurring in 1918 and 1945 respectively (search for the surname Malone in WWI or Hargest in WWII for the well-known officers William Malone and James Hargest). Archives has some registers from the New Zealand High Commission in Delhi. I understand that the birth records on Ancestry extend later, up to 1950. But marriages up to 1934 and deaths up to 1965 are not much different from the RG "historic" website. The Ancestry births & deaths apparently include the district, presumably from the folio numbers, but comments suggest that some districts are in error eg too many on the Chatham Islands?? The RG BDM fiche to 1990 are held in many libraries, although no longer avaliable from the RG (the Auckland Library has electronic records 1991-96). I have been doing genealogy long enough to remember when they were first released to the public. I was able to find a 19c marriage of someone from Dunedin who it turned out had eloped to marry in Oamaru with her older sister's fiancé, and shortly after died in childbirth, The family had searched in vain for a marriage in Dunedin; her death was on a family memorial. Yours, John Wilson
