To whom it may concern Comments : I am trying to trace the whereabouts of the Wright family. David Frederic Wright left England in 1920 for New Zealand and settled there. His last known address in 1980 (the year he died) was 36 Oxton Road, Sandringham, Auckland, New Zealand. He had two children John and Eunice and married his wife Marjorie Gladys Pullen/Burry in 1924. John Richard married Jane and Eunice Winifred married Grahame Jarrett. At that date in 1980 David had 8 grandchildren, Sharon, Lynette, Helen, Ivan, Glenis, Gregory, Robyn and Linda and also 3 great grandchildren, Penny, Marie and Kim. I live in England and the reason I am trying to contact a member of the Wright family is because David used to worship at an Old Chapel here in Upminster, Essex, England. This Chapel has recently been restored and renovated after 50 years of neglect and in November we hope to put on an exhibition for the Anniversary of WW1 about 4 Service men which includes David who served in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve Division London Service as a signalman. Any help you can give would be appreciated. With Regards from Betty Shillingford

I had suggested to Betty that the spelling was likely to be JARRATT rather than Jarrett, based on Electoral Rolls On Thu, May 1, 2014 at 5:59 PM, Wendy Howard <wendy.howard@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi Betty, > > Have you tried looking for these people in the phone book? Hi, This family we know about in NZ including the parents arrival in NZ. We have some theories about them back in England but no proof. While searching thru papers past we have found an unpleasant report of the eldest daughter being raped. - as per link below. http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=d&cl=search&d=CHP18720323.2.21&srpos=1&e=01-01-1872-31-03-1872--10-CHP-1----2Sarah+Ellen+Jones-- In the text it refers to ( quote) " The childs father Edward Jones, the mother Jane Jones, and a sister were examined" The only sister was at the time 5 years of age. Would the court have "examined" her as a witness, or could this be a sister of Edward or Jane we do not know about. This leads to another question - would there still be some records around that might help. I have asked the Rangiora Library, but did not get any help there. Does anyone have any thoughts about where to next. Thanks, Calvin
