Since the ChCh Library admits it's not the owner of the intellectual property rights, it might not be their place to tell Beverley to remove her transcripts. They might be able to stop her doing more, which we all agree is a shame. But the owner of rights needs to be found and Beverley can negotiate with them. She is not displaying images, just transcripts. That's her original work. I hope Beverley will leave her work where it is for now, pending contact with the actual owner of the rights (if such exists). It has taken the library too long to up and say something. Why have they not said anything before now. Yes - agreed - wait for the lawyers letter... If it arrives and is serious, you could then get definite legal advice pro or con - till then it's just really all hearsay + speculation isn't it? I guess that libraries have to be paranoid about such things - have you read the notices they put on their photocopiers?? Bev, I would go into the library again and ask for someone in authority - you might have just struck someone who was over officious. I'm not sure about the copyright rules on this one, but usually there is an expert at a university, if you want to contact Canterbury University and ask.
