    3. The method suggest only works for the files they digitised up to about 6 weeks ago. They now seem to be rushing to get the files all done and that download method does not seem to work now. I get to "Preservation Master" and it shows the Table of Contents listing of page numbers. Click on the PM arrow and the numbers disappear as stated - but "Derivative Copy" doesn't come up. Have I missed something? Not working for me ... 3. Hi All: Re the new format digitised WWI military personnel files at Archives NZ the Hon Peter Dunne replied (10 April) to my complaint about the new online WWI personnel files at Archives being difficult to access, saying that they want to ensure that the 160,000+ records are are avaliable online by the end of 2014 (now not by the centenary in August!) but that they are working on the issue of not working with all browsers (to be resolved shortly) and on "improving the functionality". He pointed out that for older records where a single multipage PDF file was created, it can still be accessed by clicking on the Preservation Master and going to the Derivative Copy option. The NZDF Archives are transferring files of WWI soldiers who served after WWI (ie 1921+) to Archives NZ. About 12,000 of 16,000 are already done and indexed on Archway (though that means more to scan!). So if you have not found a WWI file at Archives in the past, try again! PS: have seen some of the interesting Secret/Confidential files from WWI (about 500 in AAYS Series 8647), saying why some pillars of society eg doctors and ministers fell short or were not accepted. A doctor not suitable because of age (47) and also drug & alcohol problems, a chaplain who was returned early from Samoa (the Bishop of Auckland said he was an adventurer and "cad"), and a chaplain at Featherston Camp who was offered the option of resigning or being court-martialled for sobriety (or lack of?) and bringing liquor into the camp. Also some routine reports.
