Hi Jenny, Is that number from the online historical indexes, or from the older annual indexes on microfiche? "31057" seems a little high for the microfiche indexes for 1869, but in the online indexes it is a birth entry for NR [not recorded] SMITH, child of Mary Jane and Joseph. If the number is from the online historical indexes, the District Key booklets will not help you directly. They relate to the microfiche indexes, where more than one event may have the same folio number (there are up to five entries on a page of birth registrations, for example, and they all have the same folio number). In the online historical indexes, each event has a unique registration number. If my assumption here is correct, someone will need to look up the older microfiche indexes for a matching entry, and then the relevant District Key booklet can be checked for that folio number. The added benefit here is that the District Key will also tell you what quarter of the year the event was registered in, and at which registration office.
