    3. Thanks everyone for the input. How do you get Google and Bing to know who you are on Rootsweb? Olwyn’s site came up. But others I’ve found don’t register. Wendy, how do you get your site recognised? My present homepages site is in the first 10 results of a search. Try Parrott or Fitzpatrick family. For me people searching names on search engines is the most important aspect of internet genealogy. A couple I tried on Rootsweb didn’t show up in the first 10 pages of results. Unfortunately I cannot afford the luxury of a paid domain and hosting, so I may have to go with Rootsweb. Regards, Bryan Sent from Windows Mail

    3. Hi Bryan, I don't do anything in particular in the way of attracting search engines. I know enough to know that can be an entire topic on its own! It could be that the Freepages sites you've looked at were not particularly well constructed, and so did not contain elements that would help a search engine to find it. I don't know enough to tell you what those elements might be. There is a good peer-to-peer mailing list for Freepages, which you'll be subscribed to automatically when your Freepages account is created. That's a good place to be asking this sort of question. Hope this helps. :-) Wendy Bryan P said the following on 8/04/2014 16:11: > Thanks everyone for the input. > > How do you get Google and Bing to know who you are on Rootsweb? Olwyn’s site came up.
