Just been reading Cenotaph Database for the surname of Windelborn, needed to renew some of the pages in my file on these WW1 soldiers buried at Featherston, but this one is extra interesting.. Laurence Vincent Wendleborn. Had the lovely relaxing job of putting a printed photograph in each file on the soldiers, think the photography shop was surprised when I said a glossy print of this disc please. Over 200 in all.. as some of the photographs are off the Lay by, on Messines Way out of Featherston. Next to the Japanese Garden. One of the local papers are going to do some of the soldiers for Anzac Day as well.. South African War, now wouldn't have known this until I found the name on Cenotaph, as he headstone does not have it on.. WW1, died of Influenza at the Camp. No. 7/291. born 27 July 1893. must have been quite young to have been at South Africa? 1899-1902. or would it have been for one of his brothers being at South Africa.. Mother was from Nelson. Wounded at Gallipoli 6/7 August 1915. I was down at Featherston Cemetery only yesterday, and will be back there on Thursday afternoon with a Wreath to leave on the Obelisk. Laurence was the sixth child of the family.. Can Philip Lascelles get back to me on this soldier please. Thanks Adele
