I am also with you Beverley. It is a fantastic resource - and on your site especially for people who are not from Christchurch. I think you should ask who owns the rights on the cards or on the information contained. Please don't throw it out from your personal file. Was there any signage indicating you could not do this? And as the information is all past 50 years ( I think, for church registers)is it then not public domain?? We should mount a protest. Maybe also just list names on the memlist site? There must be a way around this, and preferably to do so with the "blessing" of  the church group which is offended.
