Hi Hilary: You are looking for information on your step-aunt and her husband, who married in 1915. For this the Registrar-General’s online historic records will be of limited use, with the limits for Births; over 100y (except stillbirths 50y); Deaths; over 50y or deaths of people over 80y old & Marriages; over 80y. Do you have Edward’s death certificate and notice as well as Eveline’s ? You have the children from the 1915 marriage, and the online records may have their deaths, but their marriages and children are probably too recent? The online Wellington City Council cemetery records should be useful too (particularly if the children stayed in Wellington): http://wellington.govt.nz/services/community-and-culture/cemeteries Death notices are most useful; hopefully listing all children alive and dead, and sometimes grandchildren. The electoral rolls on Ancestry are useful too, particularly if you have ages from death certificates but no names and you can find on the roll sons or daughters at the same address. Note that not all the rolls are indexed by name though so a search for some names may find entries six years apart not three. And Papers Past goes up to about 1945. Yours, John Wilson Subject: [nz] Eveline Maud ROGERS I am seeking information on descendants of my Step Aunt Eveline Maud Rogers. She emigrated to New Zealand in 1910 arriving in Wellington in early September. In 1915 she married Edward James Ion Elton and they had four children (according to her death Certificate) I also have a copy of her Death notice from the Dominion newspaper in 1973. Edward James Ion Elton was a plumber born 1889 and he died 1969. The family home was 59 Rintoul Street, Wellington Alexander James Ion Elton born 1917, Lewis James Ion Elton born 1920, Lavinia Margaret Ion Elton born 1921 and Craig Stuart Ion Elton born 1929. All the children married and there were at least 23 grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren (info from Death Cert). I have a photograph of the ELTON family grave at Karori Cemetery and some of my information comes from NZ Electoral Rolls on Ancestry. If there are any descendants off this family on the list I have information on Eveline Maud’s parents and wider family in England which I am willing to share. Or is there anyone who could point me to the BMD records for NZ that might help with my quest for further information.
