Hello, I am hoping that someone can help me as I have contacted FMP and they have not been very helpful. I have been unable to access either the Australian or the UK site now for over a week and I have emailed FMP and their response has not been very helpful. I am not a computer genius but on the other had I am not entirely computer illiterate. Their last response was that as I was the only person having this problem then the problem must be at my end. None of the suggestions that they came up with were helpful or relevant to my situation and it is strange to me that these are the only two sites that seem to be affected. I have used another browser without success so I know that it is not a browser problem and I don't have any difficulty accessing other web sites including ancestry.com so it is not a broadband issue. I automatically delete browsing history and cookies when I exit explorer and I shut down my computer each night so my computer is not holding on to old data. In any case I am thinking that possibly my computer's firewall is blocking the connection somehow or perhaps it has something to do with some routine upgrades that were recently installed. I know from experience that there is not much point contacting Telecom or MacAfee so I wondered if anyone else had experienced a similar problem. I would like to review a document that I thought I had saved to my computer but can't find. It should still however be available on FMP. I am getting rather frustrated so any suggestions would be appreciated. Regards, Christine
Hi Christine My first suggestion would be to clear temp internet files and cookies but you say you have done that If you are getting the same from two different browsers it does suggest the firewall may be the problem If you let me know the page you seek I can at least sort that out and send it over Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 15/04/2014 20:45, Christine Tregonning wrote: > Hello, > > I am hoping that someone can help me as I have contacted FMP and they have > not been very helpful. > > I have been unable to access either the Australian or the UK site now for > over a week and I have emailed FMP and their response has not been very > helpful. I have a sub to FMP UK and have just had no problem accessing the site (now via Ancestry by default). I haven't been onto the site for months but all my records are still there. Haven't deleted cookies or web history or temp files, I use Google Chrome browser. My firewall is Zone Alarm Extreme Security, recently updated. Didn't do anything to suspend it. Hi Graham, It seems likely that possibly the culprit is the MacAfee software supplied via Telecom. Perhaps they are being cautious or maybe there is something about the site that they don't like. I can get the home page ok but when I click to sign in that is when I get the error connection message. I had the same problem with Google Chrome so I know it is not the browser. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has the same problem but in the meantime I have had offers of help for the document that I was after and I now have a copy. Thank you to everyone that responded.
