    3. I’m another with a very large private tree on ancestry, although it’s not as complete as my own data file. The only stuff I put in my shoebox is if it’s doubtful that it’s the right person… although before I put my tree on there and *attached* the ancestry matching documents, I had some other stuff in there, which I guess I’ve either incorporated or not corroborated. Some of my previously shared family trees are on there, and I just don't really talk to those people any more because it pissed me off so much. But I never gedcommed them, so, at least, they had to manually data entry the stuff!!! What I do do, if I’m in the mood, is correct erroneous data in the comments, on some trees, purely in the hope that someone else thinking of copying it might think twice if they see some things are majorly wrong. I recently did that to 12 trees, all bar one had the simple source “ancestry family tree” that had a vast family attributed to the husband of the ancestress… when the lads own birth registration was to his mother and named his father. At least… if I ever lose my laptop, I know I have a great deal of my family tree accessible for any other computer. So a ancestry family tree, kept private, is a back up. It goes against the grain not to share, but the downside is simply too great. For example, in one tree, my great grandmother is married to her son and in another case, is married to her father-in-law... I rest my case. Joseph
