Hello all. At one end of Grafton Road, where it intersects with Park Road in Auckland, part of the road is a small bridge that goes over the expressway that heads to the port . . . . just by the tennis centre, and where a small car-park now stands. As partial support for that flyover bridge, there is a scoria wall that looks like it has been added to in places, but essentially looks very much like the scoria walls that form the walls of Albert Barracks further up the hill near the Auckland University. Does anyone know whether this scoria wall was part of the original fortifications that were constructed at the same time as the barracks? Thanks, Beth
Hi Beth I very doubt it, as the redoubt in that general location was adjacent to the Domain and I think, about where the destructor chimney is, or was.
