Do I know off a Sheet with the names of the soldiers on it from Brockenhurst. so have emailed Clare Church who researched the soldiers buried there to see if she knows about the SHEET and names. And where is it. caller reckoned Dunedin, but why there, why not at Auckland War Museum or is it there? I also have the book on Brockenhurst, its that research that got me interested closer to home at Featherston! Is Phil. Lascelles still on this list and working at Cenotaph site please. as he maybe able to help me with the odd name on Featherston Obelisk as well. but going to check BDMS and Papers Past tomorrow see if anything shows up! C of E. Father: H. Tyler, Bruntwood, Waikato. Occupation: Bushman Attested 12 Jan. 1916 161 lbs 5ft 11" A Squadron A.M.R. 12th This Soldier died at the Featherston Military Hospital at 8.30pm on 20/3/16. Certificated cause of death Crebro Spinal Meningitis. This man was admitted on the 17th March 1916. He complained at first of mild influenzal symptoms which were, however, of sufficiently suspicious nature as to justify isolation. The particular symptoms, which led to the conclusion that it was not an ordinary case of influenza, were the constant headache and a slight rigidity of the muscles of the arms and legs. Lumbar puncture gave a distinctly cloudy fluid. The contacts were immediately isolated and nose mouth and throat lavage instituted. The nurses and orderly in attendance have also been isolated.
