Hi Listers How can I identify whether a marriage of a Margaret Rattray is "mine" when it occurred before 1880 and her parents are not named on the marriage certificate? Margaret Rattray was born about 1845 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, daughter of John Rattray and Elizabeth (née Black). She emigrated, with her parents, to Sandhurst (Bendigo), Victoria. Most of the family came to Gabriel's Gully, Otago about 1866. If she married here there is only one marriage that fits. Margaret Rattray married John Fraser in 1877. Does anyone know the participants of this marriage? Where it took place? Who this Margaret's parents were? We have not found her marriage, or death, in Australia.
