After receiving an interesting email from one of our regular subscribers it got me thinking, where are the headstones made who are on our soldiers graves here in NZ. The CWGC regimental styled ones.. are they made here in NZ or where this video I have been watching, what an interesting one to watch too.. Over the years with Featherston Military Cemetery, I have requested replacement headstones for several soldiers, done through Ministry of Culture and Heritage, one from memory was for Private Thomas Wm. Spence King as he had on his one, Thomas Wm. H. King, where did H come into the equation! He was the descended from John King, one of the First Missionary to NZ in 1814. Another one was 2nd. Lt. George Prentice, he had TWO at the Cemetery, I couldnt figure it out, but CWGC said its the rank which is wrong, well why didnt they take the original one away when they got the replacement! Few others have been replaced.. but where made please!! http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-07022/gravestone-factory-commemorating-war-dead/7650896. I am currently listing all the graves on a facebook page for Featherston. thanks Rob it was so interesting!!
