While generally agreeing with what Bob wrote, one may need to look further afield. I have seen an exception … On one of my visits to Wellington archives I saw an Intention filed in Auckland for a marriage that was to take place in Wellington. It helps to be able to read upside down when searching the Intentions to Marry. Facing pages are aligned with the top of the page down the centrefold :-( It would be a good project to index the Intentions past 1881 :-) Graham. > Subject: Re: [nz] Intent to marry Dunedin ? > > Hi Jonathan > > email National Archives, Wellington > > Intention to Marry Notices > > Archives New Zealand in Wellington holds Registers of Notices of > Intention to Marry <http://archives.govt.nz/personal-identity <http://archives.govt.nz/personal-identity>> for the > whole of New Zealand for the period 1856-1956 [BDM 20/1-375].
