    3. Any records of his jumping ship are secondary to the other records you should be looking at from a genealogical point of view. When you say you know nothing about him, does this mean you don't have his death certificate, his burial records, the marriage certificate to your grandmother, any other oral history, registrations of his children, electoral roll, photographs? His origins, and that of the ship he jumped, will determine where you’d start looking for records of where and what he jumped from. All the above records should (or would have, at least asked for) his origins. J.
