Hello, A slightly off topic question but does anyone have experience in ordering or viewing wills or administrations from Queensland. If possible, I am after someone who can do a lookup for me. Regards, Christine
Now as the 100th anniversary of the Armistice is upon us, I remember with respect and gratitude, not only those who gave their lives for us, but also those who fought beside them and survived; those who stayed behind and did whatever they could to support those abroad; and also those who keep their memories alive and remind us of the sacrifices that those folk and their families made - and why they made them. I honour and thank them all. Beth
Am doing a Cemetery Tour at 11am in Featherston at the Soldiers Cemetery WW1 and again tomorrow afternoon Armistice Day. Today is the unveiling of the sculpture in the town, am looking forward to seeing it, had a friend from Sussex the other week, who works for Imperial War Museum in London. So will be sending him photographs tonight! He was here in Wairarapa a few weeks back, and was shown all the WW1 historical sites, including the lovely Heritage Museum.. Leaving a lovely Wreath at the Obelisk in the Featherston Cemetery today in memory of the soldiers we lost.. I shall be asking for more information on any soldier who is buried at Featherston WW1 Cemetery again, as need photographs and history of the soldiers for Heritage . enquiries to my email please thank you.. FOLD3 is Ancestrys USA military site on which they have been opening new UK records of late It also has UK military records on there (such as the WW1 service records) which are currently on Ancestry.com and Ancestry.co.uk (but how long they will be on those sites is another matter) I get the feeling they will hive off all military records onto FOLD3 at some point They are having an open access period (I couldn't find a time but I assume it ends at midnight on the 11th USA time) <https://go.fold3.com/wwi?xid=2271&utm_source=referral&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=UKRemembranceDay-Nov-18&o_xid=92987&o_lid=92987&o_sch=Email+Campaigns> *Do* remember to save a copy of any record you find as access is only free during this period -- Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK)

He was walking along the street when, the clock chimed the first stroke of 11. He stopped, removed his hat and stood with head bowed. The noise of the city suddenly died down. How quiet it seemed. It reminded him of just such a time fifteen years ago, when, he had lay in that English hospital. Dimly then, he remembered hearing the peeling of the church bells, and the patient in the next cot telling him that the war was over. Often he had wondered whether he would survive to see this day, and where, and what, he would be doing. And now, after years of fighting he had been knocked out just a month too soon. Damn the war! Damn "Fritz"! Damn everything! But as he lay there and heard the groans of other wounded men, he realised that many of them were shattered in body worse than he. Then there were some of his comrades who would never return. He was at least alive. Surely, he thought, he had no cause to complain. Just then a tramcar bell clanged, and an automobile siren hooted. The city was returning to its normal business. Where was he? In Willis Street, of course. Must have been day-dreaming. As he wandered off with the support of a stick, his thoughts were that many might forgot Armistice Day, but he never would. It was on this day that his leg had been amputated.
There is a plaque in our local church, which has us thinking who was he, RICHARD JOHN SEDDON ANDERSON. now the friend who saw it with me today said ANDERSON is connected to her family, but who was Richard John Seddon Anderson? Its in Carterton. I have checked the cemetery records no name like that listed. any ideas please!! Thank you! Church of England. Adele Clareville

Thank you Molly and Heather. On BDMNZ site, John Edwards who died 29 Mar 1998 was buried in Nth Shore Memorial Park.I haven't located an Edwards death 1998 in Gisborne cemeteries with an age that approximates with 1918-1924 birth year. I don't know where John Edwards died! It is a bit like a needle in a haystack... the only other contextual information I have is that this Edwards man who d 1998... father was William Edwards from Gisborne, who left his family and later went to Sydney,Australia circa 1928 , making a new life there with one of my relatives from Gisborne. She died in Sydney in 1947 (b1891). I've searched the ERs 1981 for Gisborne and then compared them with all the deaths in 1998 for Edwards and can't "find a hit". Am beginning to wonder whether the first names have been altered, or switched around. I Chris. There is a John Edwards born 9 September 1921 who died 29 March 1998. There was no Thomas Henry Edwards who died in 1998 in New Zealand according to the NZBDM Online. Unfortunately it doesn't tell us where he died!!
