    3. Pam he seems to be in Auckland till 1938, have you checked papers past, war records, trove, commonwealth war graves commission, etc. Jenelle. -----Original Message----- From: Littlemiracles [mailto:ppakes43@gmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 28, 2020 3:03 PM To: New-zealand Subject: [nz]Thomas (Wallis) RAIL Thought I would get this query in before the website closes down. The other day while looking for something totally different, I came across another uncle which no member of the family has ever heard of. G/grandmother Catherine Crowley (1856/1934) had three husbands, (1) Thomas Wallis (1837/1912)..4 children.. William (1876/1908), Ann (grandmother) (1879/1952), James (1881/1920), Catherine (1886/1947). Husband (2) John Joseph Kenna...no children. Husband (3) John Albert Rail (1862/1926). Found in his will that he left everything to his son Thomas Wallis Rail b. 11/8/1907 but registered in 1919 as only Thomas Rail. Should John pass away before their child reach the age 21 years old, then all money and guardianship would given to Ann (grandmother) (1879/1952) Strong and her husband Alfred George Strong (1876/1917). All I can find is his birth and then he vanishes. None of the family have ever heard of the name, seen a photo or his name written any where. Have checked NZ, Australia, England - nothing. If anyone has heard of this name or any information, my cousins and I would be very grateful. Many thanks in advance Pam _______________________________________________ The List Guidelines http://new-zealand-l.blogspot.com/ _______________________________________________ Email preferences: http://bit.ly/rootswebpref Unsubscribe https://lists.rootsweb.com/postorius/lists/new-zealand@rootsweb.com Privacy Statement: https://ancstry.me/2JWBOdY Terms and Conditions: https://ancstry.me/2HDBym9 Rootsweb Blog: http://rootsweb.blog RootsWeb is funded and supported by Ancestry.com and our loyal RootsWeb community -- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com

    1. [nz]Thomas HOULT in McAlister Family Tree on Ancestry
    2. Graham Hoult
    3. Hi all Putting this up so it can be archived before the list closes ... I’d very much like to make contact with the compiler of the McAlister Family Tree on Ancestry.com. A number of my ancestors are listed on this tree, but I haven’t spotted the connection I am a grandson of the Thomas HOULT listed in the tree from his 2nd marriage to Lilian Hayes MELLING, daughter of Peter William MELLING and Annie Virgo PAYTER. Thomas HOULT was a son of Thomas HOULT and Hannah PICKARD. I feel I should point out though that the McAlister Family Tree has the younger Thomas HOULT’s birth year wrong. He was born 16 May 1862, not ‘abt 1859’. The tree compiler has picked up the wrong birth registration, probably as a result of taking the age on his headstone as being correct. It wasn’t. The death date 13 October 1943 is correct, but he wasn't 84. He was 81. Hoping to connect Graham Hoult Kirwee, Canterbury, New Zealand.

Kick-start your family history research with Michelle Patient (aka the Patient Genie) Wednesday 29 January 2020 - 12 noon to 1pm Whare Wānanga, Level 2, Central City Library, Auckland Join Michelle Patient as she discusses why you should take a fresh look at research you’ve put to one side; from resources you may have missed, to new records. Reviewing your research with fresh eyes might just get you past your family tree brick walls and barriers. As we learn more about genealogy research, DNA testing, and how to access data, leads can open up to help us move around or even break through those roadblocks. Michelle will also provide a checklist to help navigate new evidence and where it might be available. Michelle Patient Australian genealogist Michelle Patient is also a scientist, computer geek and DNA enthusiast. She grew up with a grandmother whose family stories, photographs and memorabilia sparked her life-long interest in genealogy. 3. Hello Audrey, I am also a ggg granddaughter of Ivy and Richard Spencer. I have just made contact with a lot of relations in Australia and am awaiting more information. From the data you have mentioned it must be the same family! I would love to compare notes, I do know that their daughter Ivy was given a proper Maori funeral as a daughter to a chief. Ivy was my gg grandmother. My cousin, Robin, and I are trying to compare notes as his mother Gracie (one of Ivy’s children) was a great genealogist and travelled back to England regularly trying to uncover family history. I hope this helps. I will be in touch. You can reach me at patti_weaver@outlook.com. Kind regards, Patti Sent from my iPad
