I just looked on World Cat and the local universities (I live in the USA) don't have this wonderful book and it doesn't seem to be available for viewing online. Does this book by chance give where Albert Jones emigrated from, or give some clue to his origins? 3. With all the bits of info everyone sent me, I think I have located Emily's family. Was told the ship was coming around the top of NZ, where in fact she may have been coming the other way. The ship is "TIPTREE", sailed 21 Oct 1863, arrived 20 Jan 1864 with the following. Samuel DRILLER 32 Elizabeth 27 Mary 6 Hannah 4 Bessie 2 No mention of an extra child Emily arriving. The family is from Devonshire. Later found Samuel as owning the Te Awamutu Hotel and he had a race horse. Died 1899 aged 66. Emily DRILLER is not on the electoral as she married on 27 Dec 1880 to John Moore FULLJAMES. Gave birth to a daughter Nov 1881 and died Aug 1882. Would love to know if any one else has this family in their tree. Though she is only a very small piece of the puzzle, would like to prove who she is, as there is no birth or anything else written about her. Many thanks to all who helped that has got me this far Pam

    3. Can anyone tell me how much information adoptive children are given about their birth parents. I have had a lady contact me today who is the adoptive mother of someone in my family. She obviously knows a fair bit, but not the exact person. She has an ancestry site which has a photo of my grandmother that I remember from my childhood, but don’t have a copy of. I know this is likely to cause trouble in my family - but having had a child adopted out myself I am keen for the person to get in touch. Help/advice very welcome Regards Jan Sent from Windows Mail
