    2. Penne via
    3. Idly scrolling thru the Early Canterbury Photographs website, and came across the Children of Eliza Crawford and Robert Hanna: with a comprehensive tree in Auckland mid/late 1800s. Is there anyone on this list belonging to this family? They may have a connection to my Plunkett family back in Northern Ireland. My Thomas married a Crawford in the same place this family came from. cheers penne --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast! Antivirus protection is active. http://www.avast.com

    2. Aotueka via
    3. Hello. Apparently in the 1920's/1930's my grandfather purchased a property somewhere in the King Country/Upper Wanganui area. Can anyone please tell me how I would be able to trace this and find out exact details, such as where it was, when he bought it and when he sold it? Thanks heaps . . . Beth

    1. [nz] Looking for O'Donnell descendants from the Hokitika West Coast area of NZ
    2. Ailsa Corlett via
    3. Hi I am helping my cousin track down some of his family. We are really stuck on the O'Donnell family and hoping someone on this list may have O'Donnell ancestors that may belong to our family as well. Basic Information we have and know: William O'Donnell born c 1837 Ireland and died 1884 at Opunake. Would have arrived in NZ sometime in the 1860's. He had a common law wife Martha McCarthy (could be spelt various ways) born c 1850 Ireland and died in Wellington 1890. William seemingly had a wife and family still back in Ireland. (details of this family are unknown) William and Martha were in the Waimea/ Hokitika area for quite some time. They had 6 children - we know the names of 4 of them. James (my cousin's GGrandfather), Charles, David and Mary Jane/ Mary. NONE of the children's births are registered on either the DIA site or on the microfiche, under either O'Donnell or McCarthy or any other name. There is also no Baptism's either. We believe that James and Mary Jane may have been twins born in Oct 1869. (record on Papers Past) Charles was born in 1875 and David in 1878 Information from Police/ court records/ industrial school records, record the following story. Around 1878/79 Martha and William separated. Martha left 2 of the boys (Charles and David) temporary with a Mrs Weston, Hokitika while she took James with her to Wellington in 1879. She soon had the other 2 boys with her. (What happened to Mary Jane and the other two children we do not know) In 1882 all 3 boys were removed from her care and sent to St Mary's Industrial School in Nelson. They remained there until they came of age to leave. 1. We have Martha and William's death certificates. 2. We have Charles's death certificate (he lived and died in Western Australia) 3. We have all the details about James, as this was my cousins GGrandfather. 4. We think we have the correct David O'Donnell - but cannot locate his son nor his Grandson at this stage to prove it correctly. 5. We cannot locate the correct Mary/ Mary Jane O'Donnell and what happened to her. 6. We do not know the names of the other 2 children ( suspect will be girls and perhaps boarded out to other families, so names could even have been changed) We would like to make contact with ANY descendent of an O'Donnell family from the Hokitika West Coast area to help see if there are any connections. Currently I am compiling a marriage database of any O'Donnell girls - married in NZ and checking them off one by one to see if any connections- but this is very time consuming and sometimes very difficult to do. So if you can help us with our family, please email me off list and please visit my cousin's blog pages that he has done. http://cerberuscoins.wordpress.com/2014/08/28/searching-for-odonnell-family- members/ Many thanks Ailsa Ailsa Corlett ailsa@st.net.au http://home.st.net.au/~ailsa alternative email if having trouble sending to my normal email is: ailsacorlett@gmail.com

    1. [nz] Help with Electrol Rolls Wellington 1922
    2. Lori Adkins via
    3. Could someone tell me if there is an easy way of finding out who lived in 19 Rugby Street Wellington in 1922. I was trying to search for this on Ancestry but must have been searching wrong. I have a coroners report for an ancestor who I think is related but need to be sure. His death certificate states Parents, place of birth, spouse, children all unknown. The coroners report for John DAVIDSON who died in 1922(who was living in a mental hospital) states his wife (no name) was living in Sydney. And Mrs Bransgrove of 19 Rugby Street, Wellington has been notified of his death. I could not find any Bransgrove living at this address in the 1922 electrol rolls and was trying to find out who was living at this address in 1922. Thank you Lori

    1. [nz] Looking for Nicholls and More family of Dunedin
    2. Ailsa Corlett via
    3. Hi, There is a Family Tree up on Ancestry called "The More Family Tree" and I would like to get in touch with the person as I am pretty certain that the recent photo album of my late Uncle that I have just received has photos of these family members in it. I have emailed/ sent a message to the person concern via Ancestry but not reply as of yet, so was hoping that she might be on this list or others of this family can contact me. My Uncle was Murray Clark who lived at 7 Bradshaw St, Dunedin the album is dated Easter 1948 and has the names of everyone under the photo, but of course not the surnames. There is a small photo of a Mrs More and Mrs Nicholls - taken in the back garden. Other names mentioned in the Album are Cecil, Joyce, Audrey, Betty, Cathie and a photo of an middle aged couple that looks like was taken as perhaps Mother and Father of the Bride. I have found reference to a Cecil Mark Nicholls who was born in 1928 and has since passed on in 1989. He married Joyce in 1952. All events in Dunedin and would fit with my Uncles data in this photo album. As the photos (apart from the ones of my Uncle) do not relate to us as family, I am looking to contact this family so that they can therefore have the album. So if anyone on this list or perhaps the person who owns the More Family Tree on Ancestry is reading this could you please contact me off this list, so that I can scan some to send to you to confirm my research, then I can forward the album to you. regards Ailsa Ailsa Corlett ailsa@st.net.au http://home.st.net.au/~ailsa alternative email if having trouble sending to my normal email is: ailsacorlett@gmail.com
