Hi folks I sent this a few days ago but I haven't seen it appear on the list, so please excuse me if I am duplicating. Could someone please send me the death notice for Gwendolyn Margaret Price which was published 20 October 2014. I would prefer a scan taken of the actual notice in JPEG format if at all possible, but would be grateful to receive anything. Thank you Helen
Hi Does anyone want issue six July 2012 &/or Issue five July 2011 West of Eden Journal of the West Auckland Historical Society? Free to a good home. Regards Sue
HI Is there anyone in the Marlborough area that can do a death notice lookup please? Many thanks Sue
Hi, Looking for anyone researching the following, or descendents of the following ... Thomas WILSON and Martha WILSON nee TUNSTALL, arr. Lyttelton on "Lady Jocelyn", November 1872. Further children in NZ: James, Thomas, Sarah, John (Jack), William, Martha, Elizabeth (died as baby), Agnes (died as baby), Richard. Please make contact. Thanks, Susan Wilson
Hi, Please, is there any lister who has had family or is researching family that emigrated to NZ (eg Lyttelton) around 1870 or a few years later, and the family came from North Riding of Yorkshire or Westmorland? I'm particularly interested in places like: Ingleton, Casterton, Barbon, Preston Patrick, Kirkby Lonsdale, Mallerstang, Stainmore, Bowes, Cotherstone, Romaldkirk or Barnard Castle. Thanks, Susan Wilson
Hi Nivard, My Ancestors were from Cheshire and Lancashire and that was how we were told it worked so I have always stuck to that belief. Thank you for pointing out the difference between the two countries now. I didn't know that. Cheers, Graeme Ardern. NZ. PS: I have condensed both of our messages down so it doesnt take up too much extra band-width. Hope you dont mind. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nivard Ovington via" <new-zealand@rootsweb.com> To: <new-zealand@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 21, 2014 9:38 PM Subject: Re: [nz] Who am I to my great grandfather's brother please? > Hi Graeme >I had to reply to your post as you are I am afraid mistaken There is no difference between a great uncle and a grand uncle, both terms are in the OED and it comes down to personal usage .Usually those who use Grand uncle/aunt are from the USA, most other countries usually use Great Uncle/Aunt Your fathers brother would be your uncle Your grandfathers brother would be your great (or grand) uncle Your great grandfathers brother would be your great great (or great grand) uncle The usage of Grand was exported to the Americas from England several hundred years ago, it fell out of use in the UK but continued in the later USA > > Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > On 21/10/2014 00:07, Graeme Ardern via wrote: >> Hi Lynley, > Your Grandfathers brother would be your Grand Uncle, so it stands that > your >Great Grandfathers brother would be your Great Uncle. >It goes by the appropriate generations. > People mistakenley call Grand Uncles, Great Uncles, and that confuses the > matter. Hi Lynley, Your Grandfathers brother would be your Grand Uncle, so it stands that your Great Grandfathers brother would be your Great Uncle. It goes by the appropriate generations. People mistakenley call Grand Uncles, Great Uncles, and that confuses the matter. Hope this helps. Hi Graeme Lynley has posted that the answer has been received (offlist I presume as I saw nothing on the list which is a pity) But had to reply to your post as you are I am afraid mistaken There is no difference between a great uncle and a grand uncle, both terms are in the OED and it comes down to personal usage Usually those who use Grand uncle/aunt are from the USA, most other countries usually use Great Uncle/Aunt Your fathers brother would be your uncle Your grandfathers brother would be your great (or grand) uncle Your great grandfathers brother would be your great great (or great grand) uncle The usage of Grand was exported to the Americas from England several hundred years ago, it fell out of use in the UK but continued in the later USA Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 21/10/2014 00:07, Graeme Ardern via wrote: > Hi Lynley, > > Your Grandfathers brother would be your Grand Uncle, so it stands that your > Great Grandfathers brother would be your Great Uncle. > It goes by the appropriate generations. > > People mistakenley call Grand Uncles, Great Uncles, and that confuses the > matter. > > Hope this helps. > > Cheers, Graeme Ardern
Stratford is in the Palmerston North Diocese. You could try the Stratford parish first http://pn.catholic.org.nz/?sid=7&do=detail&type=parish&id=3500 Jan -----Original Message----- From: new-zealand-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:new-zealand-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Annette McLean via Sent: Monday, 20 October 2014 5:46 p.m. To: New Zealand Subject: [nz] Catholic Baptism Records Hi Where would I write/email for baptism records for someone born in the Stratford area around 1910/11? Hello Patsy: There is a cemetery behind the Presbyterian Church (next to the primary school) at Hunua. The details are not on-line but if you are a member of the NZSG you could use their look-up service as the cemetery headstones have been recorded. Write to: researchservice@genealogy.org.nz. There is no charge to members. Hi Listers Can someone please tell me what cemetery people would use if they were living in Hunua?? and does anyone know if there is anything online. Looking for james and Annie BUTLER Annie died before 1915 they lived in Hunua thanks patsy
A Henry CORONNO is listed mong several others with the same surname :- http://www.pncc.govt.nz/services/onlineservices/cemetery-and-cremation-search/?FirstNames=&LastName=Coronno&YOD=&CemteryID=0
The James and Annie BUTLER, mentioned in that article, are both buried at the Papakura Cemetery, Annie died 1937, so if you are right about her dying before 1915, then it may be another 2 people of the same name from the same place. Not unheard of by any means. James died in 1927 aged 91, does this fit? Did he remarry to another lady named Annie? Hi Patsy Have you seen this article? It does not fit with your Annie's death but does mention James and Annie BUTLER once at Hunua. Further to Jo's helpful input : There was a Henry John CORONNO living in Napier , in 1981 . No sign of a Carole CORONNO. The brother you mention was no doubt David victor CORONNO whose wife was probably Grazia Florence CORONNO. Interesting , if you were given the surname spelling CORONO , by Henry's brother ?
