Hello, At my wife's late uncles funeral recently it was mentioned that he had been with search & rescue in the North Island as he was a keen mountaineer and had climbed with Hillary back before Everest. Anyway he was involved in the search and recovery of bodies after the Tangiwai disaster in 1953. Search & Rescue has to my mind always been a branch of NZ Police, so perhaps an enquiry to the Police College in Porirua would assist with your enquiries. Regards Alister Gould Invercargill

The above details are for a Minister/Reverend & I just wondered if there were any other names mentioned that may help me eliminate if possible. Many thanks Barbara (Far North)

Hi All: Sir William Molesworth was one of the directors of the New Zealand Company, and and a government minister and radical politician.. His younger brother (I think) Francis A Molesworth, Esq is frequently mentioned as an early settler in Ward's Early Wellington (1929). which says (p456) "He went Home about 1845, and died on the 4th August 1846 aged 27 years" He had arriced on the Oriental" in 1840, and may have injured in a tree-felling accident, although I cannot find a reference for that.
