    3. To the person who contacted me off-list, I will respond on-list in the hope someone may reply to the names BAILEY and CROFT... You are correct there is a connection with BAILEY to the above DOIDGE name... My Gr-grandfather John Hancock DOIDGE arrived in NZ, May 1864, with his wife Harriet DOIDGE nee BAILEY and 4 children... J H DOIDGE, widower, married an Eliza CROFT, widow, in 1880 in Auckland... I descend from this 2nd marriage. 3. To the person who emailed me querying birthplace of above. I tried replying to your email address but kept bouncing back. Hoping you see this. Although Amelia and four of her siblings' birth reg. appear on https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/ [One would assume the births took place on NZ soil]... However, three of the events, that appear on the DIA BDM site, actually took place at Waitangi West, Chatham Islands. Hilton Doidge

    3. Les The default for Windows 7 and 8 is to run as 64 bit systems BUT all our much earlier genealogy CD, including the 1881 census, (and earlier versions of Windows), were written in 32 bit format, and 32 bit CDs do not run on 64 bit Windows OS, thus the way your Windows 8 has been set up will not allow you to run the 1881 census discs at all. There is an option however, IF you have access to a second copy of Windows, probably 7 in preference to 8, and know how to or know someone who can, install a programme like Oracle's Virtual Box, or Microsoft's Virtual PC, that then allows you to install a second operating system on your computer; hence the second copy of Windows. The second Windows operating system, run within say Virtual Box, then would be installed as a 32 bit system, and then you can then run all your older CDs quite successfully in that particular version of Windows, BUT, at the same time, in your W8 system, still running in 64 bit, you can access all that you have now on your W8 system, and take full advantage of all that RAM that you enjoy. The above system using a software programme, is not the same as partitions which are called dual boot, if you run two versions of Windows, or a multi boot, if you run Windows and eg Linux on the same computer. 3. Hi Angela, I am a researcher at Brighton Cemetery in Melbourne, we have many people mentioned on headstones who are buried elsewhere. We have whole families mentioned on a headstone with one buried in Brighton and the others are all at different cemeteries. You cant really go by a headstone or by the dates, we have many buried before they died according to dates on the headstone. It depends on who gave the information and people get things wrong. Death certificates for burial places and check check check everything.  My own family grave in Oamaru has my Great grandparents and one uncle buried in it, but mentions an aunt who died  in Nelson and is buried in Richmond cemetery and an uncle who died in France 1917, but from the headstone you assume they are all in Oamaru. We are still indexing the cemetery (started it 5 years ago and still have at least 3 years to go) picking up mistakes, adding people buried there but not in burial books, noting who is not  buried but mentioned on headstone etc, and photographing all graves. We have many New Zealanders buried in Brighton. If anybody is missing family try Brighton cemetery. We are not online and probably wont be for many years, but you can contact us at bgc@smct.org.au [1] Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone,Barb ------------------------- Email sent using Optus Webmail Links: ------ [1] mailto:bgc@smct.org.au
