Some days we think what happened to... not seen the name lately, perhaps left us, quite a few names I have not seen off late and were regulars on this list... Another name I was after, for a few years now, Helen Vail, she was doing 100nz memorials 1914, but she was also going to give me some history connected to her husbands Great Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Mary Palmer, now she was an interesting lady here at early Clareville. would love to know what happened to Helen and all her researches? Especially the Palmer one, we have done the book on Clareville, but Palmer is interesting, related to the Penny family who lived in my cottage shortly after it was built in 1880 at Clareville, first family to occupy it then moved to Grassmere, Hughes Line. 3. Hi Helen Jennings,  I have just seen your posting on  the new-zealand-L@rootswb.com where you had been contacted by  Graeme Adams daughter  in Aussie to tell you that her father Graeme Adams had passed away. He had had contact with me sometime back, not long before he passed away, and he had said that he was connected to me through my Great Grandparents,  Giles Ardern and his wife Elizabeth Ellen Lear, and he had most of the family history right except he had a Thomas Ardern down as being the first son of my Great Grandparents when I always thought  Joseph Ardern was the first son of Giles & Elizabeth Ardern. What I was wondering  Helen is whether you would be so kind as to  be able to send a copy of this message to his daughter so I could get in contact her and see just how  Graeme Adams and my family connect up. He was adamant that we did but passed away before I was able to get back in touch with him again. I'm not too sure but I think he might have been called Graeme "Kiwi" Adams as well by some people on the net so may have lived in  New Zealand at one stage. I have a few health problems (Ticker)  and shifted in April  2019 so I have been off-line for awhile so any help you can give me in contacting Graeme's daughter or family would be greatly appreciated thank you. My current email  address is: Graeme Ardern , PO Box 4379 Mt Maunganui, Mt Maunganui South,3149,  NZ.   and my email is graeme.ardern@gmail.com Many thanks Helen.        Awaiting you reply,  Regards Graeme Ardern

    3. Māori accounts of disaster recovery with Xavier Forsman, Auckland Libraries Wednesday, 5 February 12noon-1pm Whare Wānanga, Level 2, Central City Library, Auckland Join Auckland Libraries' Poukokiri Rangahau Māori (Librarian Maori Research) Xavier Forsman from Research North, Takapuna Library as he discusses Māori response to disaster. While Hawke’s Bay can be said to owe much its present-day character to the development following the 1931 earthquake, little is documented on how Māori communities of the region fared. Join Xavier Forsman as he explores this area by drawing on fieldwork undertaken as part of his Masters thesis. He reflects on the experiences of interviewing Māori elders and the insights gained from them and incorporates how the unpredictable nature of research led him to the region's freezing works closures, disasters in their own right. Brought to you by Auckland Libraries, Auckland University, EQC, and Emerald Publishing. Xavier Forsman Xavier Forsman is Poukokiri Rangahau Māori (Librarian Māori Research) at Research North, Takapuna Library. He is a recent MSc graduate from the University of Auckland. 3. We're so excited to be bringing two international DNA Experts to New Zealand in March 2020 and hope you will be too. Many of you will have heard of Blaine Bettinger, author of the blog *The Genetic Genealogist* and the book *The Family Tree Guide to DNA Testing and Genetic Genealogy *(and others). If you've ever used *The Shared cM Project* then you need to come and listen to the man who started this project share his knowledge on understanding your DNA results. Angie Bush is a full time genetic genealogist researcher and educator at AncestryProGen. She is a director for the National Genealogical Society and chair of its genetic genealogy committee. Angie loves combining research in traditional records and genetic evidence to break down brick walls. You may have heard that there is a DNA Discovery masterclass in Auckland in April with Blaine and Angie and Jonny Perl. This masterclass sold out quickly meaning that many people missed out. So we decided to bring two full days of DNA based lectures from Blaine & Angie to Christchurch (21-22 March) and Wellington (27-28 March) with the support of Ancestry.com.au <http://ancestry.com.au/> and in association with the Christchurch City Library.
