Two headstone photos are online at http://www.pncc.govt.nz/services/onlineservices/cemetery-and-cremation-detail/?id=4603 You can see the glass domes with artificial flowers in the distant shot of the gravesite - you are lucky that we recorded the names from inside as of course they are not visible in the photo. They lived at 60 Matipo St according to the burial database. Noted also that the wife had a third name, initial M, which the death registration shows as Elizabeth Ann Meldina JOHNSON. The probate documents available at National Archives Wellington should name at least one of the sons, the wife's particularly as she was the survivor. You could also try electoral rolls at your public library on microfiche, hoping to find Bert or Tom as an adolt still at home with the parents, to give you a full name for Bert or Tom Good luck with your hunting Mary Skipworth ---------------------------------------------------- Original message: I have just discovered that I have a 2nd family of Johnson's who lived in Palmerston North and wish to locate any descendants/information of this new family if possible. 3. I have located deaths for two people both buried Buried Hillsborough Cemetery , they are father and son. John Donald EDWARD died 3 March 1929 aged 78 yrs, area 1 Block A Lot No 577B , I have located the newspaper report of this death and there is no names of family listed just that he was from Edinburgh and was privately interred. His son ,James Donaldson EDWARD died 17 March 1967 aged 82 yrs Area 1 Block A Lot No 577, I know nothing of him , did he marry? since he was born in 1885, also in Scotland and they were thought to have come to N.Z. around 1911, Did James enlist WW1.? Are there headstones for these sites that might help.? Is anyone willing to read for death notices for James.? We believe that James also had a sister who may have come out with them but James wrote to her in America in 1949, so maybe she didn’t, her name was Marjory born about 1887 . John Donald EDWARD was a photographer in Edinburgh and may have continued this occupation in N.Z Thank you, Chris in West. Aust.
