    3. Hi, If you google Albert Barracks 1840's New Zealand, there is a lot of information. -----Original Message----- From: Chris via Sent: Thursday, February 05, 2015 1:48 PM To: NEW-ZEALAND@rootsweb.com Subject: [nz] Records for soldiers and their families -Albert Barracks 1848 Hi, Does anyone know if records were kept for soldiers living in the Albert Barracks late 1840's. I believe that wives and children also lived there. My gr gr grandfather, Thomas Clinch, was a soldier in 58th Rutlandshire and apparently his wife, Bridget, gave birth in the Barracks to baby Ellen b 1848. Am keen to find lists of soldiers and their families in the barracks at this time. Any assistance would be appreciated. 1. [nz] Robert Moore Born 1862 Ireland. Lived in New Zealand from 1864
    2. Chris via
    3. Hello this is my first post. I am hoping that someone can assist me in trying to find Robert Moore who was born in 1862 in Antrim, Ireland and who, with his family, emigrated to New Zealand in October 1864. They arrived on the "Ida Zeigler" and settled in Auckland, living in College Rd. His parents were Mathew James Moore b1830 IRE, and Elizabeth b 1835 IRE. They had 8 children and the youngest two were born in NZ. David McLean Moore b1852 IRE, Mathew James jnr b1856, Mary Ann b 1857 , Ruth, b1859 , **Robert b 1862, Adam b 1864 IRE and William Samuel b 1869 NZ and his sister Elizabeth b 1870 NZ. Mathew James Moore senior was a bootmaker and several sons followed in the boot trade. Adam Moore had his own boot factory and supplied boots for soldiers in WW1. Robert was listed on the 1890 Burgess Roll for Auckland as bootmaker, College Rd but I haven't been able to find a Robert Moore bootmaker on Electoral Rolls since. On the death certificates for his mother and father, 1901 and 1906 respectively, Robert is listed as alive. The Moore family were also involved in variety of sports as well as the bootmaking trade.. I have been able to trace all family members except Robert and I am hoping that someone out there might have some further clues as to where to look. Thanking you Chris

    3. According to Masterton War Memorial, where they have a list of all the Wairarapa soldiers that died in WW1, They have F. V. St. George. Greytown War Memorial Gates have E.V. St George. but someone has kindly gone and checked the Greytown Gates, E. is F supposedly, but then if you see the Masterton War Memorial, its clearly F. V. St George. Outcome.... Francis Clarence St. George. who had attended Greytown School, died 9th August 1917. Hainaut. Belgium in WW1. Unmarried, no issue. The E.V. St. George is buried at Karori, died 1915. So assume, the Initials incorrect at Masterton Memorial I don't like to take what is written down as gospel, I like to check, check and recheck, we can all make mistakes, but its the research that helps us sort the error out..
