    3. Hi Have been in Wanganui a while my self, but do not recall anyone saying anything off this pig, and I do not think it features in a series of books available that covers old photos of Wanganui (which includes some of the wool stores). There is a reasonably good index of Wanganui people at the library here. Do you have a possible name of the owner, with that someone should be able to check, and see what it has. He would accompany his owner delivering wool and stores to the riverboats, and apparently was well photographed. I would dearly love a photo or any details. Thanks, Beth

    3. We visited the area some years ago and saw the Kiwi, also the horse. It's the area where Sling Camp was located, many NZ soldiers were stationed there for training and also recuperation (including my father and uncle). I guess we were a bit lucky, as we drove up the road I couldn't help wondering what the red flag signified - until we saw an army vehicle approaching at speed. I realised: they were undertaking live firing!!! We didn't wait to be 'interviewed', just hot footed out of there. A little way down the road we saw a sign saying 'Beware of tanks' so were happy to be getting out of the area. I guess this should really be on the Memories list. 1. Re: [nz] Brennan / Mills missing children & Review re BDM records
    2. John Wilson via
    3. Hi Denise or Peter: Richard Mills married Mildred Lacey in 1916. That marriage is on the RG website (80 years ago or more) but as the limit for births is 100 years, all you will see on the RG website is stillbirths (50 years or more). You could try looking for births on the RG microfiche in libraries, though the mother/parents may not be shown. (Mildred had two children with Arthur and presumably two more with Richard?) Yours, John Wilson PS: Submissions close on Wednesday for comments on access to BDM records. Peter Dunne 21 JANUARY, 2015 Access to Births, Deaths, Marriages records reviewed The Minister of Internal Affairs Hon Peter Dunne today announced a review of access to Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) records. The existing BDM access rules came into force on 25 January 2009 with the requirement they would be reviewed after five years. Births, Deaths and Marriage records are used by many New Zealanders, to help establish their identity, to trace their family history and for many other reasons. "The Government wants to test whether current rules on how people access government held birth, death, marriage, civil union and name change records are adequate and effective. So the Department of Internal Affairs is reviewing the rules and wants to hear what users of the service think of their usefulness and whether they are still applicable. "The review will not look at information sharing and/or data matching between government agencies or access to specifically protected information", says Mr Dunne. Interested members of the public and institutional users of the service are encouraged to have their say and make a submission via the Department of Internal Affairs website (www.dia.govt.nz/bdmreview), email or by post. The final date for lodging submissions for this review is on 25 February 2015. > Mildred Jones married Arthur BRENNAN 1906.They had two children Mornington > and Carlton. > > Arthur died 1914 and Mildred marries Richard MILLS. 3. For anyone going to the Auckland War Memorial Museum and wanting to read the AJCP Microfilms. The Museum Armoury has updated to a computer based Microfilm Reader. (about a year back) "E-image Data ScanPro 2000", on Windows XP professional PC Big self taught learning curve, following written instruction as the Volunteers had not used the system. While the overall quality is better than the old reader, all the Focus, Contrast, etc. take longer to respond and finding what you want on the film takes much longer. However the final screen view can be better read, and printing is possible if you can work out which options to use. Ian

Her grandmother was my great grandmother, Margaret McIntosh who married William Henderson and then Captain Charles Ifwersen, who was Gwitha's grandfather. My great grandfather was William Henderson. Gwitha traveled by ship to France with her mother representing New Zealand in the 1924 Paris Olympics. She finished sixth in the finals. No training for the trip there. Broke world record later in New Zealand. Regards John Reed On 18/02/2015 5:48 a.m., Olwyn Whitehouse via wrote: > http://hockensnapshop.ac.nz/nodes/view/17989 > > Kate > & L. 3. Another point to remember, is that on the marriage index and CD and even the newspapers, that although a marriage takes place, it need not be an ongoing marriage, it may be annulled, or bigamus, one of mums Uncles married three time, twice while married to number one. Another rellie married in Wellington, quite forgetting his wife in England and two daughters. he was a first mate? on a ship. NZ wife, not hearing from him for awhile, wrote to his employer, and he, having removed to another company, they sent it to wife in England, who was naturally astonished to know he had a second wife. The NZ wife retained her non legal marriage name...All those marriages are on the NZ marriage registers, so just because they married, does not mean legally married.A small number indeed, but worth remembering. Oh for those lovely divorce papers that are now hidden from us.cheers penne----- On Tue, Feb 17, 2015 at 8:24 AM, Penne via <new-zealand@rootsweb.com> wrote: With the "great World Circus" touring NZ 1866-7 and mostly equestrian based.it is pretty certain, it was from there he came.
