    3. Golly that is a very old post - I was researching a house in Alton Street, Nelson for the owners in 2009. I was hoping someone had some photos of it. The little cottage is still there - built by Mrs Ray’s brother Matthew Campbell. The history of the building that I researched is attached. Roger, Sarah and son Robert, daughter Elizabeth moved to NZ (Nelson) in or about 1852. Robert, who was my Grt, Grt, Grandfather died in 1907 in Karamea. 1. [nz]Re: GILLBANKS, Joseph George and BELL, William.
    2. This was posted a long time back, but might as well provide some more info. Joseph George Gillbank(s), who is my grt-grandfather, did finally marry (at age of 47) in Karamea to Elizabeth Askew Ray in 1896 (2 years after the above letter), and went on to have four children. Joseph George died in 1934. I believe Joseph George spent time in Westland (around Teremakau) soon after arriving in NZ, Joseph George was son of Joseph, of Ingleton, who established the Mason Arm's Tavern , which is still going to this day. No knowledge on William Bell though, but interesting to hear they knew each other. cheers, Stephen Williams
