William LORKIN married Ellen MUNRO in 1867. 2 known children... Elizabeth Sarah LORKIN bn c1868 and Charles William LORKIN, bn c1870. Elizabeth Sarah appears to have died as an infant. Looking for any descendants of Charles William LORKIN who married Adelina NICKEL nee SCHULZ c1914. [There may not be any children, Adelina may have thought 13 children in previous relationships may have been enough... BUT you never know!] Both Adelina and Charles William died 1946 and are buried in Park Island Cemetery, Napier. Hilton Doidge Waikato

Hello list . . . I understand that the vessel MARY THOMSON ( or THOMPSON ) plied between Wellington and several South Island ports on a regular basis during the 1850's. I have been searching for a list of passengers who were on the sailing which arrived in Nelson on 2nd May 1856 but have had no success - even on Papers Past. Does anyone have a listing at all, or any access to this passenger list? Or can direct me to a website to search? Thanks in advance, Beth
Patsy, when you search on Papers Past try putting William Charles and selecting "Exact Phrase" for your search. Your mails immediately brought to mind the poem by Charles Wolfe: 'The Burial of Sir John Moore at Corunna' (That ages me - it's the sort of poetry we read when I was at school!) It begins: "Not a drum was heard, not a funeral note, As his corse to the rampart we carried. Not a soldier discharged his farewell shot O'er the grave where our Hero we buried. **** It ends: Slowly and sadly we laid him down, >From the field of his fame fresh and gory; We carved not a line, and we raised not a stone - But we left him alone with his glory." If you can't find it, let me know, and I'll send you the rest. It's a moving poem. Not sure what you have already but you could try using this site to see if you can find any records. http://www.rootsireland.ie/ Free to register and search but you need to pay to view actual records. Incidentally there are only 2 McBrides in Derry in the Griffiths Valuations but plenty of Hutchinsons. Hi Peter NZ Deaths on microfiche for 1988/89. No entry for a Frances Margaret HUGHS/HUGHES. The only one I could find is in 1958 that Ray Rob has already sent you in Waikumete cemetery, this cemetery is online. But I did find a headstone for her. Francis Margaret HUGHES beloved mother of Mick, Pat, Margaret and Kathleen died 21 December 1958 aged 59. Do you have anymore information on Thomas? Hi all Need help in tracing my family from Ireland. Mary Anne Elizabeth McBride. (married Carl Johan Patterson (Petersson - born Sweden 1858) in 1889 in Auckland, New Zealand. Had 7 children. Mary born County Derry, Ireland, abt 1864 (died NZ 1946?) Mary’s parents - John McBride & Elizabeth Hutchinson — married ? Mary possibly travelled from Ireland to New Zealand on ship “Triumph” in 1883. Any help with records for Mary and her earlier Irish family history would be much appreciated (some has been previously been supplied). Thanks, Alan

Hi List I emailed St Mary's Church in Blenheim, they were able to help solve one mystery but not the other one. One sister of my grandfather turns out to be his niece b 1903, this one is also not on BDM web site Have found one of the sisters on the Kiwi-Adams web site and emailed him, but no answer. The other site was Mundia, emailed one person no answer, now trying the other person hoping for answer.
