Hi Moira: Re Stephen Henry STARR he is in the online BDM as born in NZ to Walter John & Mary Margaret STARR, Reg 1904/5381 (like his death the birth was at the end of one year and registered in the next year). I should have said that he was under 17y in 1915 so he could have been born in the 1900s to (early) 1920s.. Hi Moira: There is a 1940 marriage of a Stephen Henry STARR to Dorothy Alice BLOWERS, and there is an earlier (1930) marriage of a Stephen Henry STARR to Thelma Perry RIDDEHOUGH which is probably (?) the same person (from the NZSG CD of marriages to 1956). Stephen Henry STARR is not on the WWI "War Census" CD as in the Reserves etc, so if he was in New Zealand then he was under 17y in 1915 so did not need to register in 1915. So if he was born in New Zealand he was probably born in the 1910s or 1920s. The online RG BDM website only has births over 100y ago (except stillbirths, 50y) so he would not be online if born here after 5 April 1914. But there is a death of Stephen Henry STARR online, 1988/34398 but died in 17 December 1987, and born 11 November 1903. The Burial Locator CD has him c84y buried Waikumete Cemetery Auckland. Divorce records are held at Archives NZ, but are not usually indexed in Archway, and you would need to search indexes by year at Archives for the right Court, so are harder to find., There is I think a microfiche index of divorces that appeared in the weekly NZ Truth held in libraries. Hi Jenny A Dorothy Alice BLOWERS m. a Stephen Henry STARR in 1940, the NZ folio is 12085 You don't state a time frame ! so its only a guess that this might be the person you are looking at. Archives NZ - Archway has a divorce for this couple, which could be a strong indication that they are the ones you seek. Starr, Stephen Henry v Starr, Dorothy Alice (R22724208) Item ID Agency Series Accession Record group Box / Item Sep Record no. Part Alternative no. Record type R22724208 BBAE 4985 A549 3420 / D1666/1976 Text Assuming the general search rule she would have been born about 1920, and as births on the Historical Index are not searchable for 100 years, you will not find her birth there. But using the historical death search, typing in Blowers Dorothy Alice the following result is displayed. 2008/26539 Starr Dorothy Alice 10 July 1915 Which relates her birth date was 10 July 1915. Hello list Perhaps someone could point me in the right direction for online sources to find any NZ newspaper mentions and/or photos of Albert and Angela CUMMER, especially of her while in the Otorohanga area. I have BDMs, burials and probates already. As I am in the UK I am unable to visit NZ libraries or archives. Albert CUMMER, a Seed Merchant living at Otorohanga, married Angela SULLIVAN, a nurse, in 1938 at Mount Eden Baptist Church, Auckland. When he died in 1949 he was described as a Nurseryman. When she died in 1961 she was living at Otahuhu and is buried with her husband in Otorohanga Cemetery. Her obituary mentions that a guard of honour was formed by members of the N.Z.R.N.A. and W.S.R.S.A. at her funeral service in Otorohanga. She was an honorary member of the Te Kuiti Branch of N.Z.R.N.A. and transferred to the Otorohanga Branch in 1959. She volunteered to give nursing assistance at the time of the Napier earthquake. She was an active member of the W.S.R.S.A. She was instrumental in forming the St. John Ambulance Brigade in Otorohanga. Thank you Moira
Thank you to everyone for their help with this lady and her siblings. The only date I had was that of a Will from 1961 which mentioned their names. The replies have been really useful, helping to confirm the 3 parallel SULLIVAN lines for this family group in New Zealand, Thank you all so much Moira

Hello, I have been looking, but it would appear that it was too early in that part of the country for a Maternity Home. St Patrick's Catholic Church and School are/were located on Colonsay Street in Lawrence, as well as several large houses. Maybe one of those large houses was owned by a relative (Robertson), as a distant member of my wife's lineage was a Robertson who married a Peattie at a James Robertson's family residence in Lawrence in 1900 Regards Alister Gould Invercargill
I hope I am on the right page. I am needing some help with ordering a birth cert and marriage certificate for around 1870's. I notice there are two that can be ordered. A printout copy and I cannot remember the other one. But I am needing the hand written copy. Which one would that be when I order it? Thank you. I’m curious to know whether the person in this post might be related to the lonely Irish woman people were so good to help me with a while back. If so, he has distant Irish relatives in Armagh, Northern Ireland. Paddy Tasmania
In June 1870, twin girls, one of whom was my great grandmother Anne Campbell, were born in Colonsay St, Lawrence. I think the family lived at Gabriels Gully, so I am wondering if this was a maternity home. Can anyone help? _______________________ Stuart Park Kerikeri, New Zealand spark@xtra.co.nz
