    3. Hi Bryan: Here is the NZDF website, although as the NZDF are transferring the files of WWI veterans who served after 1920 (from 1 Jan 1921) the website is not up-to-date. The NZDF Archives will now hold only those from WWII and later, though some in WWI and WWII are already at Archives NZ. http://www.nzdf.mil.nz/personnel-records/nzdf-archives/ Yours, John Wilson >I recently downloaded a form for ordering NZ Army Service Records. 3. Hello Judy, Not much help I'm afraid, but on A Memory Tree site there are 3x Brian Curries mentioned, deaths in 2009,2010, and 2013 I have looked at Cemetery Databases for Wellington, Dunedin, Invercargill, Horowhenua, Auckland, Southland rural, Gore, Timaru, Palmerston North, Queenstown, Oamaru, and although there are many Curries mentioned, I couldn't find the person you seek Regards Alister Gould Invercargill

    1. [nz] Query: Wartime marriage by proxy (WILSON = LANGMAN)
    2. Blanche Charles
    3. Hello List I'm helping the father of a friend try and trace the marriage record of his birth parents. First question: where would one find details of a marriage by proxy, c1940? Known details: Ronald William WILSON (b 3 Apr 1914, nr Hunterville) - Royal Navy, NZ Div, WW2. (Survived the war) - Served on HMS / HMNZS "Leander" married, by proxy, c 1940 Effie LANGMAN (aka Shona - b 17 Jan 1920, NZ) . Apparently the proxy marriage took place on the "Leander", somewhere in the Red Sea; conducted by the Captain, with 2 witnesses. Meanwhile, back in NZ, the bride also had to provide 2 witnesses for the proxy marriage. I've not come across anything like this before. Can anybody elucidate further, please? Where would the civil records be found, given that it was wartime? Also, where would the records for the "Leander" be found, if they have survived? I would imagine the Captain would have logged the marriage, but I'm not sure if they would be in TNA, Kew, given that it was Royal Navy, or if they will be found in NZ, given that it was the NZ Division of RN (later the RNZN). Any help would be gratefully received, and even better if there's anybody out there who can throw further light on Ronald William WILSON and Effie / Shona LANGMAN. (The latter was known to the family. She died in the Porirua area in the 1990s). Thank you in anticipation. Blanche Charles Kapiti Coast, NZ

    3. This is to all those kind people who so kindly replied to my request for a Death Notice for a Brian Currie in Nov .2007 in Auckland. On looking further at this person I am very sorry to say I do not have a place of death, why I thought it was Auckland I really don't know. I will have to look into this one a bit more to see what I can find out. Sorry to be such a trouble to everyone involved. 3. Hi Graham, It seems likely that possibly the culprit is the MacAfee software supplied via Telecom. Perhaps they are being cautious or maybe there is something about the site that they don't like. I can get the home page ok but when I click to sign in that is when I get the error connection message. I had the same problem with Google Chrome so I know it is not the browser. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has the same problem but in the meantime I have had offers of help for the document that I was after and I now have a copy. Thank you to everyone that responded. 1. [nz] WW1 Featherston Soldiers
    2. Adele Pentony-Graham
    3. Just been reading Cenotaph Database for the surname of Windelborn, needed to renew some of the pages in my file on these WW1 soldiers buried at Featherston, but this one is extra interesting.. Laurence Vincent Wendleborn. Had the lovely relaxing job of putting a printed photograph in each file on the soldiers, think the photography shop was surprised when I said a glossy print of this disc please. Over 200 in all.. as some of the photographs are off the Lay by, on Messines Way out of Featherston. Next to the Japanese Garden. One of the local papers are going to do some of the soldiers for Anzac Day as well.. South African War, now wouldn't have known this until I found the name on Cenotaph, as he headstone does not have it on.. WW1, died of Influenza at the Camp. No. 7/291. born 27 July 1893. must have been quite young to have been at South Africa? 1899-1902. or would it have been for one of his brothers being at South Africa.. Mother was from Nelson. Wounded at Gallipoli 6/7 August 1915. I was down at Featherston Cemetery only yesterday, and will be back there on Thursday afternoon with a Wreath to leave on the Obelisk. Laurence was the sixth child of the family.. Can Philip Lascelles get back to me on this soldier please. Thanks Adele
