Hi - and Happy Easter to you all. Is there anyone on this List who has access to the IGI on 'Fiche? I am trying to confirm an IGI entry which I recorded over twenty years ago and am hoping, that someone has access to Microfiche, to check same. The entry is for a John McCONA(U)GHY who I have recorded as christened at Ballymoney, Co. Antrim, Ireland - 2 Dec 1810- the son of John McCONA(U)GHY and Rose HUTCHINSON. My citation reads I G I p17018 Ref.7001215/2. Could someone check this for me please. I thought I may have been able to find this on FamilySearch but am not having much luck. Thanks Garry __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 9692 (20140417) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com
Hi Jenny, Is that number from the online historical indexes, or from the older annual indexes on microfiche? "31057" seems a little high for the microfiche indexes for 1869, but in the online indexes it is a birth entry for NR [not recorded] SMITH, child of Mary Jane and Joseph. If the number is from the online historical indexes, the District Key booklets will not help you directly. They relate to the microfiche indexes, where more than one event may have the same folio number (there are up to five entries on a page of birth registrations, for example, and they all have the same folio number). In the online historical indexes, each event has a unique registration number. If my assumption here is correct, someone will need to look up the older microfiche indexes for a matching entry, and then the relevant District Key booklet can be checked for that folio number. The added benefit here is that the District Key will also tell you what quarter of the year the event was registered in, and at which registration office. Hope this helps. :-) Kind Regards, Wendy ***Please reply to the list*** jagb@mcmedia.com.au said the following on 18/04/2014 18:02: > Is there someone on the list please who has the District Key Book for Births that cover the year 1869? > I would like to know please where birth 1869/31057 was registered please. > With thanks > Jenny

Hi Gary I still have the microfiches for Ireland. I checked your entry and you have it accurately, other than the mother's maiden name which is not recorded. Whether it is important or not I don't know, but the surname is indexed as "Mc Connaghy". Just to check, I also searched for him in FamilySearch using the name John McConnaghy, Ireland, Antrim, and the year 1810 - he didn't show up! So it isn't just you! I then tried entering by the "back door" using http://www.archersoftware.co.uk/igi/index.htm which is an entrance to Family Search using Country, County and Parish - he still didn't show. That said, the entry in the IGI must have come from somewhere - I noted it did not have an extraction batch number so may be an incorrect patron submission. Hope this helps Good luck Ruth > Date: Fri, 18 Apr 2014 19:48:56 +1200 > From: gazza@woosh.co.nz > To: new-zealand@rootsweb.com > Subject: [nz] IGI Microfiche - Ireland > > Hi - and Happy Easter to you all. > > Is there anyone on this List who has access to the IGI on 'Fiche? > > I am trying to confirm an IGI entry which I recorded over twenty years > ago and am hoping, that someone has access to Microfiche, to check same. > > The entry is for a John McCONA(U)GHY who I have recorded as christened > at Ballymoney, Co. I seek help from somebody in the Te Awamutu area to photograph a number of graves in the above cemetery. There are 5 of the SHEPHERD family I am interested in. I can supply plot numbers, names, dates etc. Thanks Murray Reid Mangatangi.
This nephew of my GGGG Thomas Plunkett ex Ireland, after having a son in Victoria in 1855 came to NZ with the 40th reg. Wife Mary Ann appears to have died in the UK in 1859. Wounded in the NZ wars in June 1860, a man of the same name marries in the UK 1860 (cert ordered but not yet arrived) He is on the 1861 cencus at Colchester Barracks. No further reference so far found. Now this is my question after 20years in the Army he was discharged in Auckland 4th Feb 1865, would he have needed to be present. In other words did he return to NZ? cheers penne .. --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast! Antivirus protection is active. http://www.avast.com
Hello, I would like to thank everyone who responded to my query. I have found a burial at Sydenham in Christchurch which appears to be this lady although Jan has found that her death was registered in Napier. During 1904/1905 a girl by the name of May or Mary EVERETT stayed with my Great, Great Grandmother in Midhurst and attended school there. She has long been a mystery to me. My Great, Great Grandparents had a large family of 10 children and so there are other children staying from time to time that have all been accounted for. Of the 10 children there was one child Mary Jane SMALL that I was unable to trace and it seems likely that she is Mary Jane EVERETT. There is a marriage in 1891 to an Edward EVERETT (Possibly James Edward) and her age of 37 in 1913 ties in with her birth in 1875. Before I start spending money ordering certificates I thought it would help confirm without a doubt that I have the correct person. I thought that if I could tie these two people together it would help. I don' have a date of birth but if she was at school in 1904/1905 she was possibly born between 1893 and 1898. There is a Mary Ellen Ellis whose birth was registered in 1983 but I have narrowed down her birth date to 8 Sep 1897. Any ideas would be appreciated and if anyone has a Mary Ellen Ellis EVERETT in their tree that would be a bonus. Christine , it seems that this lady was aged 37 years at death in New Zealand , therefore born somewhere in the world about 1876 . The only possible reference I can find is a Mary Everett, living at Te Aroha , in the 1905-1906 NZ Electoral Roll. Ocupation described as 'domestic duties' There seems to be no Mary Jane Everett listed on the Electoral Rolls . My grandparents, Hugh Sargeant BARRETT and Henrietta SMITH were married at her parents residence (Christchurch Star 23/5/08) The residence is named as "Lime View", in Albury. The Smith family had earlier lived at Charing Cross. Can any lister advise if the "Lime View" property still exists? Murray Reid Mangatangi
