    3. Hi Hilary: You are looking for information on your step-aunt and her husband, who married in 1915. For this the Registrar-General’s online historic records will be of limited use, with the limits for Births; over 100y (except stillbirths 50y); Deaths; over 50y or deaths of people over 80y old & Marriages; over 80y. Do you have Edward’s death certificate and notice as well as Eveline’s ? You have the children from the 1915 marriage, and the online records may have their deaths, but their marriages and children are probably too recent? The online Wellington City Council cemetery records should be useful too (particularly if the children stayed in Wellington): http://wellington.govt.nz/services/community-and-culture/cemeteries Death notices are most useful; hopefully listing all children alive and dead, and sometimes grandchildren. The electoral rolls on Ancestry are useful too, particularly if you have ages from death certificates but no names and you can find on the roll sons or daughters at the same address. Note that not all the rolls are indexed by name though so a search for some names may find entries six years apart not three. And Papers Past goes up to about 1945. Yours, John Wilson Subject: [nz] Eveline Maud ROGERS I am seeking information on descendants of my Step Aunt Eveline Maud Rogers. She emigrated to New Zealand in 1910 arriving in Wellington in early September. In 1915 she married Edward James Ion Elton and they had four children (according to her death Certificate) I also have a copy of her Death notice from the Dominion newspaper in 1973. Edward James Ion Elton was a plumber born 1889 and he died 1969. The family home was 59 Rintoul Street, Wellington Alexander James Ion Elton born 1917, Lewis James Ion Elton born 1920, Lavinia Margaret Ion Elton born 1921 and Craig Stuart Ion Elton born 1929. All the children married and there were at least 23 grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren (info from Death Cert). I have a photograph of the ELTON family grave at Karori Cemetery and some of my information comes from NZ Electoral Rolls on Ancestry. If there are any descendants off this family on the list I have information on Eveline Maud’s parents and wider family in England which I am willing to share. Or is there anyone who could point me to the BMD records for NZ that might help with my quest for further information. 3. Hi Ian: Have asked for the WWI personnel file for Alexander Charles Wisnowski to be digitised (several weeks?). 3. Hi Ray Thank you very much for all your help and suggestions. I had not seen the Donaldson tree site or the Mundia site so will explore them now. I have used Papers Past and gained some information from there. Especially about Edward James Ion Elton Jnr and his prowess in Plumbing qualifications. I really am grateful for any help as being so far away in the UK it is difficult to find out what records are available in NZ. Thanks again Hilary Hilary Thomas hilary@mypandas.me.uk

I have found a burial at Sydenham in Christchurch which appears to be this lady although Jan has found that her death was registered in Napier. During 1904/1905 a girl by the name of May or Mary EVERETT stayed with my Great, Great Grandmother in Midhurst and attended school there. She has long been a mystery to me. My Great, Great Grandparents had a large family of 10 children and so there are other children staying from time to time that have all been accounted for. Of the 10 children there was one child Mary Jane SMALL that I was unable to trace and it seems likely that she is Mary Jane EVERETT. There is a marriage in 1891 to an Edward EVERETT (Possibly James Edward) and her age of 37 in 1913 ties in with her birth in 1875. Before I start spending money ordering certificates I thought it would help confirm without a doubt that I have the correct person. I thought that if I could tie these two people together it would help. I don' have a date of birth but if she was at school in 1904/1905 she was possibly born between 1893 and 1898. There is a Mary Ellen Ellis whose birth was registered in 1983 but I have narrowed down her birth date to 8 Sep 1897. Any ideas would be appreciated and if anyone has a Mary Ellen Ellis EVERETT in their tree that would be a bonus. 3. Hello Ian I can't help with photos but may have found one of your unidentified soldiers. Your email caught my eye as I'm distantly related by marriage to a STEVENS family in the Kimbolton area, and one of my great-uncles was a publican in Cheltenham just prior to WW1. Your list includes the unidentified "Bert STEVENS". He does not appear to be one of the STEVENS family I'm related to but looks like he was probably Albert Milton STEVENS 17/188, age 40 yrs, NZ Veterinary Corps, died of disease on 9 July 1915, buried in the Cairo War Cemetery, NOK was his mother, Mrs Mary Stevens of Feilding. The 1905/06 Oroua Electoral Roll has Albert Milton STEVENS, farmer, Valley Road, Colyton. The 1908 Oroua Electoral Roll has Albert Milton STEVENS, farmer, Valley Road, Colyton. The 1911 Oroua Electoral Roll has Albert STEVENS, Kimbolton, farm labourer and also a Bert STEVENS, Ngaputahi, Pohangina, farmer. The 1914 Oroua Electoral Roll has Bert STEVENS, Ngaputahi, Pohangina, farmer It doesn't look like the "Bert Stevens" on the above 1911 and 1914 electoral rolls is your man (as he appears to be alive after the war) - but the Albert Milton STEVENS in Colyton in 1905/06 and 1908 definitely looks like the person you're after. Hope this helps. Good luck with your project. Angela
