    3. Hi Folks, Wondered if any list member can point in the right direction to find a list of the men who were in the 46th Reinforcements for WW1. They went into camp but never left for overseas as the war finished. They are not listed on the Auckland War Museum site as they did not serve overseas. Thank you Allan

    3. Worldconnect at Rootsweb is free to upload datbases. You can also generate web pages of linked descendants using standard genealogy software including the free varieties and upload the pages to free websites, eg Freepages hosted by Rootsweb. For this kind of thing you need to pay attention to your notes section if you want those displayed in a coherent fashion. -----Original Message----- From: Jenny Sent: Sunday, May 18, 2014 2:50 PM To: new-zealand@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [nz] Family Trees There are lots of free sites out there for doing research Papers Past, Trove, Free BMD, to name just a few, but if you want to store or put your tree on line then you need to pay, I have my tree on ancestry cost is out weighed by the info I have found, Some of their hints are good others well less said, I also have my tree on Tribal Pages, I use a mix of free and paid sites, it is my hobby and most hobbies cost some money one way or the other ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Wilson" <hugo@actrix.co.nz> To: <woodart@woodart.com.au>; <new-zealand@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, 18 May 2014 12:14 Subject: Re: [nz] Family Trees > Hi All: > > Google is free (with the help of advertising) and it is reliable and > trusted! > Also the newspaper websites for the NZ Herald and Stuff (Dom etc) > > Yours, John Wilson > > Subject: Re: [nz] Family Trees > > >> Reminds me of a saying a dear friend once told me - >> >> 'there's no such thing as a free lunch!' >> >> In other words 'with every hand-out there's a price to be paid!' >> > > > The List Guidelines > > http://new-zealand-l.blogspot.com/ > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > NEW-ZEALAND-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > > ----- > No virus found in this message. > Checked by AVG - www.avg.com > Version: 2014.0.4577 / Virus Database: 3950/7513 - Release Date: 05/17/14 > ----- No virus found in this message. 3. I/have been hoaxed into trying to put my FT on line by one of these money making sites that advertise to list your family tree on line at no cost. I uploaded over a thousand names on my FT but found that only 250 names were put on line but they offered to put more on line if I paid. They now have more than a thousand names I supplied free but when I want to investigate other names, they say they have information on, they ask me to pay for it. /
