However, there has been nothing to confirm where this man was born, thus his identity before his marriage.... As I don't live in New Zealand, would it be possible for someone to check the INTENTION TO MARRY records at the NZ ARCHIVES for this couple. It has been suggested that his place of birth may be on this record..... Hello List, I'm trying to help a friend find a family who I found in NELSON from 1935 and then in Island Bay Wellington in 1957 etc. WILLIAM JOSEPH GARRETT of Nelson, Carpenter married to JANET DUFF ? He died 1957 Nelson. JANET DUFF GARRETT is found a Widow in 1957 living in Island Bay Wellington with her daughter ELIZABETH FLORENCE GARRETT, A Telephonist. JANET DUFF GARRETT is then found in 1963 same area......but daughter missing. This information has come from the Electoral Rolls - Would anyone have the Marriage of this couple or indeed that of their daughter......trying to identify this family. WILLIAM JOSEPH GARRETT that we know of was born in Isle of Man, England 1896....sailed for New Zealand around 1922, Carpenter and Joiner. Any help very much appreciated..... Robyn Australia

    3. Enquiry today, for VAD nurses WW1 who assisted around Wairarapa area, Carterton/Masterton after Flu 1918. One is the surname of Wallis which is both Greytown and Carterton family names. Have a photograph of 4 ladies, one is Penelope Margaret Wallis. Born 1888. known as Maggie married Gershom Thomas. Another lady is the second wife of Henry Wallis (son of Philip Wallis) then two other ladies family are trying to find names.. I just wondered if any Wallis family member knew of friends who maybe in this picture.. hard when you cant see it!! But maybe someone knows something. Wallis family goes back to Arnold Wallis, I have the recent published books on this family, the lady who just telephoned me and emailed me the photograph mentioned about a VAD book, is there one please, I have emailed Sherayl who did the book on NZ Military Nurses as well, have her book in front of me at present.. It apears he was a friend of my GG Grandfather I have done some research and I belive that he is the son of Francis and Francs A'court born in Christchurch. Who anyone know the family?
