    3. I did not try it before so can't say if its changed, but from the databases notes on Ancestry About New Zealand Birth Index, 1840-1950 This collection includes a searchable index to birth records from New Zealand covering the years 1840–1950. The index lists the name of the child, the quarter and year in which he or she was born, and a folio number associated with the microfiche index created by the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs. Once you locate an ancestor in this collection, you can use the details to search the database on the New Zealand BDM website and request a copy of the original record, which will include more detail. Note that only stillbirths are available from 1915-1950. 2. STANLEY ELIZABETH
    3. HI all ! I had a feeling that Ancestry would cut back on the births so I tried to print out everything from 1914 - 1950 for KENNEDYs but my printer ran out of ink at the end of 1930 and the local shop didn't stock ink for my old printer !!!! I don't suppose anyone has got the 1930s and 1940s by any chance? Or is it ever possible to buy a set of the fiche ??? Cheers, Liz Stanley

Hi Patsy The birth is registered in 1917, RETALLICK Phyllis Joan, Folio No 4883, Sept Qtr, Christchurch Also under 1917, hand written in referring to the entry in 1920 is DARLING Phyllis Joan, Folio No 5171, Sept Qtr, Christchurch On the 1920 fiche, it is typed as DARLING Phyllis Joan, Folio No, 5171, Sept Qtr, Christchurch So she was born RETALLICK in 1917 and birth re registered in 1920 under DARLING hope that helps Ailsa Ailsa Corlett ailsa@st.net.au http://home.st.net.au/~ailsa alternative email if having trouble sending to my normal email is: ailsacorlett@gmail.com > >Hi Listers > >Phyllis Darling born 1 Jan 1918 (noted as Darling on her marriage >registration) > >parents maud christina retallick and joseph peter darling who married in >1919 > >Can someone look to see if Phyllis birth was registered as RETALLICK >(her mother's maiden name) or DARLING? >Also if registered as Retallick can they check the births 1919/1920 to >see if she was legitimatised AFTER her parents marriage. > > > >thanks >Patsy >

    3. Hi Jan, I have had the same experience and found it was BDM errors. I got all the detail I could, in my case from Council records and then emailed BDM and asked why I could not find the death in their records. In both cases they found an error and fixed it. 3. Did sent this last week but with all the problems at Ancestry it did not go through Hi Everyone The Ashburton District Council recently updated it's Cemeteries page on its website. IIt now has an advance search page. Which includes searching for some of the following plus much more. * Surname * Burials Between burial dates * Burials with certain death dates * Search only one Cemetery * Certain Area/Block in a cemetery Also a camera pops up in the index, if the there is a headstone photo available. These photo's have been made available by the Ashburton District Family History Group. Currently headstone photo's are available for the Hinds, Waterton, Winslow Cemeteries Photo's are currently being added weekly for the Ashburton Cemetery. At the present time they are available for the Old Lawn and most of the New lawn sections up to plot 3200. Headstone photo's for the RSA sections are being added over the next few weeks, followed by the older parts for the Ashburton Cemetery as time permits. http://infoservices.adc.govt.nz/Cemeteries/ Regards Michael Sheate

    3. There is also an Agnes BLAKE marrying John SINCLAIR in 1866 (Ref 1866/7711 - NZ BDM Historical Indexes online). Matching this back to the Huntress passenger list that you found there is both Margaret and Agnes BLAKE on board, along with further family members. 3. Sorry Olwyn... Don’t know what your reference to Ancestry is on this one...? Ancestry got it wrong. https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/search/ and some places of birth are wrong in NZ birth records on Ancestry but the big advantage of Ancestry is that NZ births go up to 1950 http://preview.tinyurl.com/npyqddd http://search.ancestry.com/Places/New%20Zealand/Default.aspx?category=34 <http://search.ancestry.com/Places/New%20Zealand/Default.aspx?category=34&ldf=1> &ldf=1 From: hilton doidge < <mailto:hilton.d@clear.net.nz> hilton.d@clear.net.nz> Subject: [nz] DIA site and Chatham Island BDM Records Date: Mon, 30 Jun 2014 22:18:59 +1200 To Olwyn W and Penne and all others who contacted me off-list about Chatham Island Records being on DIA BDM site...

    3. To Olwyn W and Penne and all others who contacted me off-list about Chatham Island Records being on DIA BDM site... After a week of emailing to DIA... They have concluded with this response... "...On the website we don't imply or suggest that the records are only on New Zealand soil, rather we say that they are "New Zealand Government records for births, deaths and marriages". We do not mention territory or soil or exclude records of events occurring outside New Zealand..." And... "...Legislation has changed over the years and as a result there are records registered in New Zealand for events that occurred both here and overseas..." I asked if they could include under, say, their existing heading... "About the Records"... That ALL events shown, on their site, did not actually occur on NZ soil! But this is not in their interest... So if you are searching through BDM's on DIA... Remember the event could have occurred on Chatham Islands or Antarctica or any other place that NZ governs...! There is no indication otherwise... They want you to buy their Carts. etc to get the correct answer... I wished they had have used the Folio numbers instead of creating useless Registration numbers... Yes I know the Registration Number assists in ordering Certificates etc., etc., however the Folio number had another use, to search for a place of Registration for B and D's using the NZSG District Key books... And yes the District Key books showed Folio Numbers for Chatham Islands... Hilton Doidge
