    3. I have bought a new printer that doesn’t take these cartridges. I only put them in old printer about 2 weeks ago, they have barely printed 10 pages. Seems a shame to throw them out. I’d happily forward them on to anyone who might be able to use them. Contact me off list. Judy

    1. [nz] Where is this cemetery?
    2. aotueka via
    3. Morning. Hoping you can help me with a dilemma.  There is a "small" hillside cemetery located right beside the main road in a township that I visited years ago - somewhere in the upper north island. It has fallen into disrepair and many of the graves have broken and fallen/slipped down the hill. I remember the cemetery very well BUT . . . now I cannot remember exactly where it is. AGE I GUESS . . . ! Does anyone know where this cemetery may be? Thanks in advance. Beth Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

    3. As far as I know, you pronounce the "j" as a "y" as in "yes". Just run the l and j together in a 'liquid' sound. The first "a" is a long one, as in 'ah", and carries the stress. Lyublyahna. 1. [nz] surname TUNNICLIFFE
    2. Keith Jeffery via
    3. Hello all, We're still trying to find the parentage, birthplace and birthdate of one Thomas Tunnicliffe, , who came to New Zealand in 1842 on the Clifford and who settled in Nelson. We do know the following things: His death entry in New Zealand says that he was born in Warwickshire in England and died at age 75, making his birth year around 1807. It also gives his parents as Joseph and Sarah (formerly Cartwright). The family tree I have has the same parents. He married Hannah Richardson on 18 Feb 1827 in St. Michaels Church (aka Bablake Church?), Coventry (reference Bishop's Transcript). His entry in the 1841 census for Spon Street Coventry (in Warwickshire) says that he wasn't born in that county. His age is given as 30, however the 1841 census, for that age, could be +- 5 years. Reference 1841 census A family tree for Tunnicliffe in New Zealand that I have says that he was born in Ashbourne, Derbyshire. A search of the Parish Register has some Tunnicliffes, but no Thomas around the required year. There is a Thomas Tunnicliffe born in Repton, Derbyshire with parents Joseph and Sarah, baptised 14 Dec 1806. As far as I can tell, this Joseph and Sarah were married by license at Stone, Staffs, on 13 December 1804. There is a potential brother, Joseph Tunnicliffe, baptised at Penn Lane-Independent, Melbourne, Derbyshire 14 Jul 1805 - reference Parish Register transcript on IGI. Born 4 June 1805 at Repton Derbyshire - reference 1851 census. This would mean that Joseph was conceived out of wedlock, thus the baptism place and an explanation for the license. So to my question. Has anyone determined the actual birth place for Thomas and would be prepared to share it? Kind regards, Keith Jeffery

    3. Am after a James Lewis Junior grave please, his father is at Clareville, in unmarked grave showed it to the family today, now on the hunt for the son's plot. James Lewis Senior died 1922, he was an inventor, will be writing up about him later, think this person needs recognition, have a newspaper cutting somewhere, cant put my fingers on it at present but will find it! Have just met up with a descendant from Sydney, so took him to the cemetery and showed him the plot.. then learn James Junior could be around the valley somewhere... Jas. Lewis Sen. lived in Greytown but buried nearby at Clareville.. in Presbyterian area. Son worked with a circus.. Family off to Masterton Archives to meet Gareth, said I will go on the search and let him know! I do have another person in OZ related to the family.. its lovely to be able to meet someone I have been emailing for years... its a small world as he worked with Fire Brigade, I said oh you would know my cousin then, Ian Pentony, yes! he said never realised with your email address connection! as used [email protected] with his emails! Then mentioned Neich off Parramatta, I live in Neich's Lane... I said named after the family in Sydney! I said Neich had the end cottage next to mine.. Just love showing visitors around town, and having lunch with them.. I was given some books on Carterton the other day, so gave him one as well.. sharing knowledge.. Bit wet underfoot at Cemetery today as want to get back to the other headboard to photograph it ... to work out if we can see what was carved on it... Thanks..Adele -- Adele Pentony-Graham Carterton Cemetery Clareville Researcher Carterton Researcher. and Featherston. WW1. Cemetery.

    3. Hi Jeanette & Olwyn, No 1 is a Brevet Badge, correctly identified as aircrew but not a pilot. They had a letter in the centre which indicated what position the wearer held within the crew. The sample has had the letter blacked out for some reason. The sample I have included refers to the Engineer on the crew. Others were LM - Loadmaster, N Navigator, B Bomber (WW 11) etc. The example is from the RAAF Uniform. Royal Australian Airforce but all Commonwealth badging was the same or similar. The rest may have been from a Mess Uniform but don't know which country. Hope this is of some help. Regards, Terry. I am looking after my mum who has dementia but thought that this little anecdote might interest you When me and my brother came to new Zealand in October we went on the trail to find where my mum lived when she was in nz. We found the area she was in and there was an old farmer who we spoke to. He told us his house was built in 1929, our mum was born 1927 and lived there until 1934. At the end of the lane that we found there was what I call a disused abattoir or ice house, my uncle explained why it had gone out of business. Didn't think anymore about it until recently I showed my mum some of the pictures I took of nz. Showed her the pictures from rotorua baths with the bubbling mum and steam and said that is where her dad used to work. Well her response was amazing. She said that she knew nothing about the baths but he worked in the fields and at the end of the road where the animals were dead... She has never mentioned this before. All through my childhood she painted a picture of new Zealand being a big flat open field and she lived on a farm and had no shoes on her feet until they sailed back to England. All she ever said was that her dad worked on the farm and played polo on ponys. I was amazed to find new Zealand had volcanos and mountains.lol Once again thank you to all those that helped me with my research and responded to my pleas. The box has metal strapping top to bottom on from & back and the lid is hinged. I've taken photo's if anyone is interested (cannot post on here). Our family have always referred to this as 'Grandpa Tyler's Black Box' and as youngsters knew that Grandpa always housed his religious books etc in it. Thanks for bringing back memories, Beth (and making me take the photos!). Glenys 10. Metal steamer trunk (aotueka) 11. Re: Metal steamer trunk (Karen Hitchcock) 12. Other offices have some regional registers. A card index to Notices of Intention to Marry in the Wellington Reading Room gives access to Notices in the Registers for the period 1856-1881. The Registers are organised in 3 monthly periods and by place of registry roughly from north to south, but alphabetical within regions. After 1881 researchers need to know the approximate date and the place of marriage. My feeling is that the issue may just stay unresolved. The story goes that a female born NZ Oct 1882 married in 1914 also in NZ. This was easy to prove. However, family lore has it that she was to have married somebody else; but the intended groom died close to the date planned for that wedding. The only fact I have is the lady's full name. Her parents would have been living in the Dunedin area; so it seems relatively safe to assume the wedding would have been in the area. The place of worship used by the family is known. That said she is known to have been in Australia & Europe ( UK & Germany ). I have spent some time searching PapersPast without success. No mention of an engagement etc. In fact the family does not seem to have used newspaper notices for BMDs. Perhaps I should also check Trove in case the fellow lived in Australia. It may also be worth tracking her in passenger lists. Cheers Jonathan On 29 June 2016 at 17:18, Penne <[email protected]> wrote: > Re indexes. While generally agreeing with what Bob wrote, one may need to look further afield. I have seen an exception … On one of my visits to Wellington archives I saw an Intention filed in Auckland for a marriage that was to take place in Wellington. It helps to be able to read upside down when searching the Intentions to Marry. Facing pages are aligned with the top of the page down the centrefold :-( It would be a good project to index the Intentions past 1881 :-) Graham. > Subject: Re: [nz] Intent to marry Dunedin ? > > Hi Jonathan > > email National Archives, Wellington > > Intention to Marry Notices > > Archives New Zealand in Wellington holds Registers of Notices of > Intention to Marry <http://archives.govt.nz/personal-identity <http://archives.govt.nz/personal-identity>> for the > whole of New Zealand for the period 1856-1956 [BDM 20/1-375].
