    3. Annual lists of registered nurses and midwifes used to appear in the official New Zealand Gazette for several decades, probably for the 1930s and 1940s at least. There were separate lists for nurses and midwifes, and separate categories (A and B?) for those who had qualified by exam and for older nurses and midwifes who had practised for several years before compulsory registration came in. Called the “grandfather” qualification; here perhaps “grandmother” ! The lists used to give an address (home or work) and may mention the date and hospital of qualification. I don’t think the old New Zealand Gazettes are online, but public libraries may have old bound volumes (up to three a year) or may have a scanned version (Adobe PDF files; searchable although rather convoluted to set up the volumes to be searched (for up to a decade?). Good Morning, After the posts on the Auckland war memorial, I thought I would have a look - Many people from Norfolk Island served with the NZ Forces, An am pleased to find many of them on the Cenotaph, I am contributing what details I can, though I find it very strange the Fletcher Evelyn Quintal is on the N.Z. Cenotaph He served in Both Boar War and WWI with the Australian Forces The only record I can find of him in New Zealand is as follows, The New Zealand Court in 1904 in which Richard Seddon (ex 7th NZ Contingent) sought redress following a slur to his reputation by NZ Politician Taylor over an incident whilst Seddon was serving as a Captain in South Africa during the Boer War. Sarnim’s evidence in the case provides a significant resource. Sarnim opened his evidence in the case with the following - “I am at present A.D.C. (aide-de-camp) to his Excellency the Governor of New South Wales and also superintendent of the Constabulary Corps. I have the honorary rank of Captain in the New South Wales army. All ADC’s must hold that rank. My permanent place of residence is at Norfolk Island.” Does anyone have any hints as to why he would be recognized in New Zealand TIA Liz Norfolk Island

    3. I has only one reply in thanks to a true blue list member. <It is one of numerous self awarded and purchased medals available for veterans who feel they need more bling. Without a closer look I would guess one of the following Merchant Navy Medal 1939-45, Occupation of Japan medal or territorial service medal (which is for the UK, so without knowing more about him I’m not sure). There are several organisations in the UK selling this type of medal as a fund raising means-off the top of my head, in addition to the above there are medals for National Service, Suez, Bomber Command, Artic Service, Rhine 1950-1992 etc etc. Can’t be specific about which one he has! As he has it separate and below his other medals as he is obviously aware it is un official.> http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nzlscant/#photo

    3. Jo, You have done nothing wrong. This message is probably from Windows 10 or your virus program. It is a warning that the installed program wishes to make changes to the program on your computer and must be agreed before the install can complete. This warning is only a concern when it comes up when you are NOT installing an update or program. I'm using Legacy 8 build 8.0.0.459 with no problems on windows10 Ian On 10-Jan-17 2:33:00 PM, Jocelyn<[email protected]> wrote: Hi I have just updated my Legacy to the latest update of December.
